[Today’s Prayer] Nigerian Muslim extremists murdered 18 Christians in the past month
It has been revealed that 18 Christians have lost their lives due to persecution in Nigeria in the past month since mid-April.
Christopher Audu Manship, a city council official, said in a recent interview with Morning Star News, “On the 7th (local time), radical Islamist militants, the Fulani, killed four Christian farmers in Kayarda village, Plateau State, north-central Nigeria.”
Local resident Ezekiel Bini said, “On the same day in Vasa County, herdsmen ambushed and hacked to death a Christian who was working on a farm in Kwal village. His wife and children were also killed by herdsmen in 2021.”
Another resident, Christy Musa, said, “On the 1st, Fulani terrorists attacked eight Christians and killed two of them in Ngoxar village, Bokkos County.” “On the 7th, they kidnapped Mr. Joshua Gonshak, a lecturer at Plateau State University,” he revealed.
In an interview with Morning Star News, resident Sylvanus Malau said, “Christians are being continuously attacked by Fulani herdsmen for no reason.” He said, “In a society ruled by law, our people are not prey to be hunted and killed in this beast-like manner. Something must be done. The Nigerian government, security agencies and all other legally recognized organizations must help Christians in Nigeria,” he urged.
Meanwhile, Nigeria ranked 6th in the ‘2024 World Watch List’, a list of countries that persecute Christians published by Open Doors earlier this year.
In Nigeria, from October 1, 2022, to September 30, 2023, the number of people killed for their faith was 4,118, the highest in the world. Christian kidnappings also occurred the most at 3,300. Additionally, attacks on other Christian buildings, including churches, hospitals, schools, and cemeteries, were the third most frequent at 750.

Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and cruel man. For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O Lord, from my youth. (Psalm 71:4-5)
We hear the tragic news of Christians losing their lives in Nigeria.
We desire the peace and comfort of God to come upon this land, God who remembers those who live for Him on this earth and die for Him and guides them to eternal rest.
Please have mercy upon this land filled with countless persecutions. As they rely all the more on God, our refuge, let them see his help and deliverance. Please cut off death and darkness and allow God's peace to come. Protect them from the hand of the wicked, and let them escape from the midst of evil and unrighteous people!
Although fear surrounds them, we desire for them to become Christians who are not afraid of death and look forward to the hope of eternal heaven. Would You give them faith, and let them be people of faith who look to the Lord Jesus and be victorious until the end!
