[Today's Prayer] "Islamic State Engages in 'Silent Jihad' in Nigeria"

Jeff King, President of the persecution watchdog International Christian Concern (ICC), emphasized, "The country with the highest number of Christian killings is not North Korea, but Nigeria."

In a recent interview with the U.S. Christian Post (CP), King criticized, "Radical Islamists have pushed Christians out of the north into the central regions, the heart of agriculture. Militants raid villages, killing and displacing entire communities. This is a silent jihad, a massive land grab. Yet, the Nigerian government's response has been lukewarm."

King warned of a broader crisis sweeping across the entire African Sahel region, beyond Nigeria, saying, "Islamic extremism has taken root in the region, making it impossible to govern entire sections of territory. It seems the Islamic State (IS) has taken over entire areas. These areas are so remote that there's almost no way to stop ISIS."

According to him, horrific violence against Christians has recently been witnessed not only in Nigeria but also in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), an Islamic extremist group affiliated with the Islamic State, beheaded 70 Christians after days of kidnapping and terror.

While Christians face opposition from various fronts, King pointed to one ideology that specifically targets this religious group for suppression: Islam.

He stated, "Historically, Christians were most persecuted by communist regimes, and while persecution continues in countries like China and Cuba, radical Islam is now the greatest threat. Saudi Arabia, positioning itself as the guardian of Islam, has poured billions of dollars into spreading its strict ideology. They funded radical mosques, educational institutions, and militant groups. We are still fighting the consequences today."

He added, "The Ayatollahs said they would spread Islam throughout the world, but what happened instead? People rejected it. They saw the brutality of the Islamic regime, and now the church is exploding. Iran is probably the fastest-growing Christian region in the world right now."

He noted, "The church tends to grow stronger when persecution intensifies. That doesn't make the suffering feel any less real, but it reminds us that God is at work. For many Western Christians, the news of persecution can feel overwhelming."

He further added, "This isn't just about helping others; it's about learning from others. The persecuted church can teach us a lot about faith, resilience, and dependence on God. Their suffering is not wasted. And neither is ours. God draws us closer to Him through trials, whether persecution or personal hardship. We can't stop all persecution, but we can stand with those who suffer. And sometimes, that makes all the difference."

"by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him." (Colossians 2:14-15)

Prayer :

Heavenly Father, we hear the terrible news of Islamic extremists raiding villages and killing and displacing Christians in Nigeria and remote parts of Africa.

We also hear the horrific news from the Democratic Republic of Congo, where an Islamic extremist group kidnapped and terrorized Christians for days, beheading 70 of them.

Lord, please visit all the saints in Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and throughout Africa who are enduring hardship and persecution.

Grant them the faith to look to Jesus Christ, who has already triumphed over all sin and the power of darkness on the cross, disarming rulers and authorities and making them a public spectacle.

Have mercy on the extremist Muslims who, in their ignorance of the truth, have become tools of Satan to persecute Christians.

May they also encounter Jesus, who washed away all our sins and iniquities and set us free, and witness their complete transformation to live for Him.

Lord, may the global church join together in tears to pray for the church in Africa, which is suffering hardship and persecution.

May the church in Africa endure to the end through faith in Jesus and rise as a holy church that sees God's glory, incomparable to the present suffering!

In these end times, may the church in Africa rise with the hope of eternal heaven and testify to the gospel of heaven among all suffering nations!

Through the church in Africa, may we see the way for Your second coming being prepared swiftly among all nations!
