[Today’s Prayer] Iran Declares “Eye for an Eye” Retaliation… Warns of Strikes on Middle East Financial and Energy Hubs

Iran has begun retaliating against attacks from the United States and Israel with an “eye for an eye” approach. This is interpreted as an attempt to justify punishment for aggression by applying “Qisas,” the Islamic legal principle of retribution.

On the 11th (local time), a spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters, an organization under Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, claimed, “The terrorist U.S. military and the brutal Zionist regime (Israel) attacked one of our banks after their military objectives failed.” He continued, “Through these illegal and unconventional actions in war, the enemy has opened the path for us to attack the economic hubs and banks of the United States and the Zionist regime in the Middle East,” and warned people to “stay more than 1 kilometer away from (U.S. and Israeli) banks.”

Iranian local media reported that Iran’s central bank suffered a cyberattack that paralyzed financial transactions. In response, Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, mentioned “financial Qisas” on state television. He said, “If the enemy first attacked our central bank and financial network and threatened the lives of our people, then according to the principle of ‘an eye for an eye, a bank for a bank,’ we will strike every hub through which their capital flows.”

Qisas is a form of punishment based on “equivalent retaliation,” repaying the offender with the same harm inflicted on the victim. According to this principle, Iran has continued reciprocal strikes on energy and drinking water facilities.

Drinking water supply facilities have also become targets. After a desalination plant on Qeshm Island in southern Iran was destroyed on the 7th, Iran carried out an airstrike the following day on a desalination facility near Muharraq in Bahrain. Bahrain’s King Hamad Al Khalifa said, “I deeply regret what our beloved homeland, our brotherly Arab nations, and friendly countries have suffered due to this unprecedented and unjust attack by Iran.”

Now in the 11th day of the Middle East war, the battlefront is expanding across the Gulf region. Israel has bombed Iran’s ballistic missile development facilities and Hezbollah bases in Lebanon. In response, Iran has broadened its attacks to include Israel’s mainland, U.S. military bases, and energy facilities in the Gulf region. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait shot down drones that entered their airspace, while NATO air defense systems intercepted Iranian missiles over Turkish airspace.

Meanwhile, U.S. Central Command issued a safety warning, saying Iran launched missiles from densely populated areas, raising concerns about civilian casualties.

Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.” (John 2:19)

We hear the news that Iran has warned of retaliation by striking financial and energy hubs in the Middle East with an “eye for an eye” approach after the United States and Israel carried out a preemptive attack on Iran’s central bank and financial network.

Faithful God, as the war in the Middle East continues for more than ten days and mutual attacks and bombardments on energy and drinking water facilities increase civilian casualties, please protect the people of Iran and the Middle East who feel their lives threatened and live in fear as the war expands unpredictably.

We entrust to You, the sovereign ruler, all the situations in Iran and the Middle East amid the ongoing cycle of retaliation—between the United States and Israel, who continue attacking Iran and Islamic militant bases, and Iran, which claims justification through Islamic law.

Lord, cover the Iranian people—who are surrounded by Islam and the darkness of falsehood—with the blood of the cross of Jesus Christ, who already forgave all sins three days after His death 2,000 years ago, and raise Iran up as the holy church that is the body of the Lord.

Although news of war, conflict, and death surrounding Iran continues to spread, let the Iranian church stand firm in faith. Stir the global church to pray boldly together and let the gospel movement of the worldwide church that proclaims life be revived.

And so, may the power of Islam and the news of conflict cease in Iran and the Middle East, and instead grant the news of salvation where the eternal love of God and the river of life overflow.
