[Today’s Prayer] “Hamas Discusses October 7 Incident with Iran”… Iran “It’s Fabricated Document”

Israel has released data showing that the Palestinian militant group Hamas discussed with Iran and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah before invading Israel on October 7 last year. Iran claimed that the document was “fabricated,” and that “all planning, decision-making, and command were carried out solely by the Hamas military organization in the Gaza Strip, and any claims that link this to Iran or Hezbollah are not credible.” According to the New York Times ( NYT ), Wall Street Journal ( WSJ ), and Washington Post ( WP ) on the 11th (local time) , they obtained documents related to Hamas through the Israeli military.

Most of these media outlets stated that the documents were discovered on January 31 in an underground bunker in Khan Yunis, Gaza, Sinwar’s hometown.

These media outlets noted how much advance planning Hamas had with Iran before its airstrikes on Israel and how much Iran cooperated in those plans.

Iran has denied any knowledge of the attack at the time of the Hamas strikes on Israel. However, the released documents show that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar had been planning a large-scale attack on Israel and negotiating with Iran and others since 2021.

Hamas originally planned to launch an airstrike against Israel in the fall of 2022, codenamed “Project Mega,” but delayed the plan while trying to persuade Iran and Hezbollah to join.

In July 2023, Hamas dispatched a senior official to Lebanon to meet with Iranian General Mohammed Saeed Izzadi and ask for help in attacking Israel’s critical infrastructure once the offensive began. The Iranian general reportedly said that Iran and Hezbollah supported Hamas in principle but needed more time to prepare.

In the meantime, Hamas has focused on creating the perception that “Hamas wants peace in Gaza” by refraining from launching attacks on Israel.

Hamas eventually accepted that Iran and Hezbollah would not intervene directly, the Times reported. The August 2024 document said that Israel’s entrenched control of the West Bank and its growing presence at the Aqsa Mosque complex had “made us impatient.” Efforts to normalize relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia also appear to have prompted Hamas to take action.

Another letter from Hamas to Iran suggests that the two sides strengthen military cooperation and establish intelligence-sharing and logistics plans in preparation for future conflicts with Israel. “Let us together root out this vicious entity and change the face of this region,” Sinwar wrote in a letter to the commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force.

The documents came as Iran fired more than 180 ballistic missiles at Israel earlier this month, and Israel vowed to retaliate.

The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all (Psalm 103:19)

Amen! God, we lift up to You the sad reality that this war, which has not stopped and continues, as Hamas continues to attack Israel, calling on the cooperation of Iran and Hezbollah, and we hear that Hamas had discussions with Iran when it attacked Israel last year, and that Iran is denying these things.

The principalities and powers of this world will try to arrange and persuade in many ways, to gain their own victory, but we believe that our God will fulfill His covenant with the nations and peoples. May God establish His throne in the heavens and rule over the nations with His kingship!

May the schemes of men crumble before God, and may God be enthroned and reign as King, not only over Israel and Hamas, but over the many nations and peoples involved in this war!

At a time when the world is suffering from the conflict between Israel and Hamas, we ask that the power and reign of the blood of Jesus Christ, who broke down the barrier of the cross for us, come to the descendants of Ishmael and the descendants of Isaac! Let the wars cease and let us be united in Jesus Christ!
