[Today's Prayer] At least 10 people killed in serial explosions in Somalia capital market
Reuters reported, citing local residents, that a series of explosions occurred at an open-air market in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, on the 6th (local time), killing at least 10 people and injuring more than 20.
"There were explosions in four places in the center of the market," said Hassan Ali, a trader at Baccarat, Mogadishu's largest market.
Three nurses at Erdogan's hospital in Mogadishu said more than 20 injured people were taken from the blast site.
Although it has not been confirmed who was behind the explosion on this day, Reuters added that it was similar to bombings frequently carried out by al-Shabaab, an armed group linked to al-Qaeda.
Al-Shabab, which means 'youth' in Arabic, started out as a youth branch of an organization called the Islamic Courts Union (ICU) and pledged allegiance to the terrorist organization al-Qaeda in 2010.
With the goal of turning Somalia into an Islamic fundamentalist country, they have been using force mainly in the south and central areas for over 10 years.
They move from hideout to provinces where the central government's security forces are weak and carry out guerrilla-style attacks against the government, military, and civilians, but they also often operate in the capital, Mogadishu.
On the 16th of last month, three people were killed and two injured in a suicide bombing by Al-Shabaab in Mogadishu, and on the 10th of the same month, a UN helicopter that made an emergency landing in a nearby village due to a gas malfunction shortly after takeoff from Beledwayne in the central region was captured and six people were detained.
“And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:22-24)
God who desires to save all peoples, we heard that at least 10 people were killed and more than 20 injured in a series of explosions in the capital of Somalia.
It has not been confirmed who is behind the explosion, but it is likely that it was a terrorist organization centered on Somali youth.
Please have mercy on the young people who do not know the Lord and who frequently commit suicide bombings.
When we pray and proclaim the Lord's kingdom in the land of Somalia, where force has been applied for over a decade, with the goal of turning it into an Islamic fundamentalist country, we believe that this land will be transformed by the gospel as we ask and believe.
Please help the youth of this land not to live with the goal of becoming a fundamentalist Islamic nation, but to meet Jesus through dreams and visions, and to be transformed by the Gospel and to rise up as a generation of young people who live for the Lord and die for the Lord.
In this way, please help allow this nation to establish the holy church of the Lord in the land of Somalia and make them a people who prepare the way for the Lord's return.
