[Today’s Prayer] Iranian Church in War: “Labor pains… praying for new life”

As the war between the United States, Israel, and Iran continues, Open Doors recently shared the situation of Iranian Christians and requested prayer.

Christians in Iran, though isolated and exposed to danger, are still holding on to hope in their faith.

Sahar (pseudonym), a Christian woman from southern Iran, said, “People here need hope. They need to know that there is a Savior. Please continue to pray.”

Her testimony reflects the harsh reality of Iran, marked by intense military attacks and ongoing destruction. She said, “This is like ‘labor pains,’” adding, “I earnestly pray that this will soon bring life and freedom.”

According to several reports, the Iranian government has recently been using civilian facilities such as schools and hospitals for military operations, putting many children and vulnerable people at risk. The internet has been completely shut down, and millions are isolated, unable to contact family members abroad.

Even in these circumstances, the faith of Iranian Christians has not been shaken. Ahmad (pseudonym), a Christian from a port city, said, “Psalm 94 has been a comfort these days. While it acknowledges despair and injustice, it proclaims that God sees, judges, and is actively at work.”

Mariam, a nun from southern Iran, confessed, “When I saw water flowing through a dry valley, it felt like the Lord’s promise. The salvation of Iran will surely come. Our Lord is alive.”

The suffering of war does not remain only within Iran. Arina (pseudonym), a young Christian woman living abroad, said, “As soon as I heard about the protests, I wanted to go out into the streets with my people and shout together. It breaks my heart that I cannot be in my homeland at this time,” as she held back tears. Mary (pseudonym), who escaped Iran and lives as a refugee, asked for prayers from Christians around the world for her older brother, who is currently serving as a naval soldier on the front lines in Iran.

Open Doors stated, “These voices remind us that this war and chaos are separating families beyond borders. The prayers of Iranian believers ultimately remind us that God is the one who is sovereign over all things.”

Behzad (pseudonym), a Christian, said, “We believe that a new future will come to Iran according to God’s perfect will.”

“Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them” (John 7:38)

Heavenly Father, as the war between Iran, Israel, and the United States continues, we hear that the church in Iran is praying for new life through labor pains.

Even now, many souls in Iran and the Middle East are exposed to the threat of death, and Iran is becoming increasingly isolated with its internet cut off, but we believe that You are working through Your church to bring about the work of life.

As the church in Iran trusts in God, who is sovereign over all circumstances, and prays with the pains of labor for the people of Iran, Israel, and the Middle East, please answer these prayers and begin a new work.

Let the rivers of living water flowing from the church in Iran cover the entire Middle East, and through the Iranian church, awaken the global church to rise and pray for peace and salvation in the Middle East.

And may Your will to save Iran and the Middle East through the Iranian church surely be fulfilled.

Church of Iran, let rivers of living water flow through the Middle East and all nations! Rise as a church that gives birth to new life and turns all nations to Jesus!
