[Today’s Prayer] After the abolition of abortion rights, ‘self-abortion’ increased rapidly in the United States… “Order medicine from overseas”

Since the precedent recognizing the right to abortion was repealed in the United States, so-called self-abortions by obtaining abortion pills have increased rapidly.

With abortion rights emerging as an issue again ahead of the U.S. presidential election in November, the Supreme Court will begin a hearing on whether the sale of oral abortion pills should be regulated.

U.S. daily New York Times (NYT) and Washington Post (WP) cited related research results published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) on the 25th (local time), citing the official medical system after the Supreme Court abolished the precedent recognizing abortion rights. It was reported that abortions using drugs obtained from outside have increased rapidly.

In June 2022, the conservative-dominated Supreme Court annulled the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, which recognized abortion as a constitutional right up to about 24 weeks of pregnancy, and left each state to decide whether to restrict abortion.

So far, 14 states have banned abortion, and 7 states have stipulated that the abortion period is shorter than 24 weeks.

In the six months following the repeal of this ruling, abortions through the official healthcare system decreased by approximately 32,000. It was analyzed that self-abortion to avoid abortion regulations was influential in this situation.

The American Guttmacher Institute, an abortion rights advocacy group, estimated in a report on the 19th that about 1,026,000 abortions will be performed in medical institutions in the United States that officially perform abortions in 2023.

This is an increase of about 10% compared to 2020, and is the first time in 11 years that the number of annual abortions exceeded 1 million. Last year, 63% of abortions involved oral medication.

Please forgive the crooked and rebellious generation that is now rebelling against God's natural law of creation and thinking that they can decide life and death on their own even though the sovereignty of life and death belongs to the Lord.

However, the Lord tells us to shine as lights in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation with purity.

In these dark times, many people are living in sin, but please help us proclaim the truth of the Lord even more.

Let a holy generation arise that repent of living with the world's humanistic thinking that humans can decide even life and death, rather than the word and truth of the Lord, and that only keeps and follows the word of the Lord!
