[Today's Prayer] Trump Rejects Iran’s “7-Day Plan,” Iran Says It Will “Wait for a Final Response” — End-of-War Negotiations Remain Uncertain

U.S. President Donald Trump said on the 26th (local time) that he had rejected what has been called Iran’s “7-Day Plan,” which was proposed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resume negotiations to end the war. Iran is waiting for the United States’ final response through a mediating country, but with President Trump continuing to take a hard-line stance, it remains uncertain whether the deadlock in U.S.-Iran negotiations will be resolved in the short term.

President Trump told reporters at the White House that day, “I rejected their proposal.” He continued, “Their situation is very bad, and they want a deal to immediately open the Strait of Hormuz. We are winning tremendously,” while claiming that the United States had already “completely taken control” of the Strait of Hormuz.

The “7-Day Plan” that President Trump said he had rejected reportedly proposed that Iran would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resume negotiations to end the war within seven days if the United States met certain conditions, including lifting the maritime blockade against Iran, releasing frozen funds, and easing sanctions on Iranian oil sales. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi attended the United Nations General Assembly on the 24th and said that he had conveyed the proposal to the United States through Qatar, the mediating country, stating, “The choice is up to the United States.”

Hard-line statements have also continued to come from Iran. Al Jazeera reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned on the 27th that if the United States resumed attacks against Iran, it would attack U.S. military vessels, including those in the Indian Ocean. Some hard-liners have also claimed that President Trump’s rejection of the “7-Day Plan” means that the United States is preparing for a “surprise military operation.”

God, have mercy on the people of Iran who are living amid war and economic hardship, and protect their lives and daily lives. Give wisdom to the leaders of Iran and the United States so that they may put an end to attacks and retaliation and find a path toward dialogue and peace.

Hold on to the Church in Iran, and let it fulfill its role of making Jesus, who answers our prayers and loves us to the very end, known throughout the land of Iran. May the people of Iran encounter the God who answers when they worship and pray to the Lord.

Through the prayers of the global Church, may Iran and the United States forgive one another and be reconciled before Jesus, who fulfilled the true meaning of the fellowship offering, so that peace may come to Iran.
