[Today’s Prayer] “Punishment for not wearing a hijab”… Iran's 'religious police' revived

Updated: Aug 22, 2023

Iran's so-called "religious police" cracking down on women not wearing the hijab resumes.

After massive anti-government protests sparked by the suspicious death of a woman in her 20s who was arrested for wearing the hijab loosely in September of last year, the authorities hinted at the possibility of abolishing it, but did not get rid of it. It is pointed out that the freedom that was barely obtained at the sacrifice of more than 500 citizens has gone back to nothing.

According to Iranian media such as the state-run IRNA news agency on the 16th, Saeed Montajer, a spokesman for the National Police Agency, announced the resumption of religious police activities on the 16th, saying, “We will resume the activities of cracking down on women not wearing hijab in public places and punishing them if they do not obey the guidance.” He also said that he would be punished for uploading photos taken without wearing a hijab online.

The religious police, who enforce whether citizens follow Islamic law, are notoriously ruthless. It was not uncommon for citizens to be randomly arrested and beaten on the streets for wearing poor attire.

The green van they were riding in was fearful. Martha Amini (22), a Kurdish woman who was involved in the mysterious hijab death in September last year, was also arrested by the religious police and found dead while receiving interrogation.

And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins—and the wine is destroyed, and so are the skins. But new wine is for fresh wineskins. (Mark 2:22)

Heavenly Father who loves Iran.

Iranian authorities have announced the resumption of religious police activity, which had been abolished following massive anti-government protests following the mysterious death of a young man in his 20s who was arrested last September for wearing a loose hijab.

At this time, we ask that you would look to the souls of Iran who are trembling in fear, not knowing when the notorious religious police's tyranny will resume.

Please touch the hearts of those who have been hurt under the Islamic law with the love of the cross, and may they turn away from lies and lead them to Jesus Christ, who is full of true truth and life.

May the souls of Iran leave the laws of Islam, which are like old wineskins, and become new wine in the new wineskins of Jesus Christ, loving only You and fulfilling Your will.

May the Church of Iran preach the gospel of life through prayer for this work, so that all over Iran may be filled with the sound of praise for the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

May Jesus Christ alone, who will raise up a new wineskin of the gospel among the Iranian people be exalted!
