Pakistan is accusing India of "unilaterally discharging Indus River water," weaponizing the water and reigniting the conflict between the two countries over the Indus River.
According to AP and AFP on the 20th (local time), Pakistani Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Israr Dar sent a letter to India on the 19th, protesting against the irregular discharge of water from the Chenab River, a tributary of the Indus River.
Dar said that the volume of water in the Chenab River from July to 15 showed unusual and sudden fluctuations, which "indicates that India is unilaterally discharging water, which is a very worrying matter for Pakistan."
He further claimed that "India discharged water without prior notification, which is an act of weaponizing water."
He emphasized that "we cannot allow India to block or divert the flow of water to Pakistan." However, the remaining three tributaries of the Indus River, namely the Sutlej River, Beas River, and Ravi River, can be used by India as it pleases.
However, in late April, a shooting attack on Indian tourists in Indian-controlled Kashmir, which was attributed to a group affiliated with the Pakistani terrorist organization LeT, led to the deaths of 26 people. In response, the Indian government declared the suspension of the Indus River Treaty, accusing Pakistan of being behind the attack.

Father, we hear the news that a conflict is arising between Pakistan and India over the Indus River. We are concerned that the sudden discharge of water has caused a rapid change in the water volume, which is causing great concern for the lives and livelihoods of Pakistani citizens and their economic security. We place all these situations in Your hands.
Lord, remember the Pakistani farmers and families who are anxious about the changes in the water during this important agricultural season. Comfort the hearts of Pakistani souls who are in despair, and let them experience Your grace and salvation in their hopelessness. Let them know that hope lies in You.
Lord, help the leaders of Pakistan and India discern what they should say and decide in the conflict. Let them speak the truth rather than lies. Let them abandon the thought of harming each other and retaliating, and make choices that save lives and livelihoods. Let the conflict between the two countries gradually subside under Your will.
Awaken the churches in Pakistan and India in the midst of the conflict. Let them repent first for the sins of their people and pray more fervently for their nations. Pour Your Spirit on the prayers, so that the churches in Pakistan and India can first unite in the gospel and through this unity, the long-standing conflict between the two countries can be broken.
May the global church also pray and go to spread the gospel to Pakistan and India. May holy churches be established wherever the gospel is preached, testifying to Your love for Pakistan, India, and all nations.
May 100,000 missionaries in Pakistan and 1 million in India unite and run toward all nations, preparing the way for our Lord's coming.
