[Ramadan 2026] Day 17 – Finally, the Median army preparing for the Second Coming of the Savior! Kurds!

The Kurdish people appear in the Bible as descendants of the Medes. Through the prophet Isaiah, God foretold that He would use the Medes as an instrument to judge the Babylonian Empire that had destroyed Judah:
“See, I will stir up against them the Medes, who do not care for silver and have no delight in gold” (Isaiah 13:17).
Later, the Kurds are remembered as one of the peoples connected with the Magi from the East who presented gifts to the baby Jesus, and as one of the languages heard when the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost. In this way, the Kurdish people are a nation deeply remembered in God’s heart.
Since the early Caliphate period, the Kurds have accepted Islam and continue to practice it to this day. Compared with other Islamic sects, they follow a stricter Shafi‘i fundamentalist tradition, and people may face criticism or trouble if they do not observe the Ramadan fast (called Ramazan in Kurdish). This year as well, calendars showing the daily fasting schedule have been distributed in every city, the price of pide bread—traditionally eaten during Ramadan—has been announced, and markets have been crowded with women buying groceries even before the fasting month begins.
Meanwhile, the leader of the Kurdish Workers’ Party (PKK) in Türkiye has declared an end to armed struggle and laid down weapons. In neighboring Syria, Kurdish militias have also come under the control of the Syrian government, putting aside hopes for independence. Some former rebels who have lost their sense of purpose are returning to the cities and seeking stable lives. With the Turkish ruling party continuing political compromises, construction booms in roads and housing are occurring in many cities. As a result, the Kurdish people are increasingly becoming like those who have lost their purpose, turning their attentions to silver and gold in a secular world.
Nevertheless, in the Kurdish regions of Türkiye, local leader churches have been established in Malatya, Diyarbakır, and Van.
These churches are sending teams to plant churches in surrounding cities, and around these three cities two to three additional churches have already been planted. In three other cities, believers are gathering in house churches for worship. However, in about ten cities there is still no news even of house churches. At the same time, the Assyrian Orthodox Church (Syriac Christians) continues to keep the faith and wait for the Lord’s return.
Brother H has been a Christian for several years and has maintained a firm faith. However, due to the heavy burdens of life and responsibilities he must carry, he was unable to settle into a church and wandered for quite a long time.
During this time, he began interacting with a young man who wanted to argue, saying, “Only Islam is right. Prove why Christianity is the truth.” Although the young man insisted that Islam—mixed with philosophies from various eras and not even fully following its own laws—was the truth, Brother H patiently listened to him until the end. Then he encouraged him by saying, “Jesus is the truth because He revealed God’s perfect love. This Jesus is my God.”
Like the rich young ruler in the Bible, the young man left even more confused. Yet Brother H took another step forward in faith upon his own confession. Though the painful times of the last days seem to press in more and more, the Kurdish people will rise as disciples who do not look to silver or gold but follow Jesus to the end.
“Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East.” (Revelation 16:12)
Just as before the fall of Babylon, events resembling the drying up of the Euphrates River are taking place. Revivals are occurring in the churches among the peoples surrounding the Kurds—Iran, Afghanistan, and Syria.
Now, with the armies of the kings from the East preparing for the final battle, the Kurdish people are rising again as a nation preparing the way for the Lord’s return.
[Today’s Prayer]
1) May the Kurdish people rise as the army of the kings from the East preparing for the final battle.
2) May the Kurdish people, who live without purpose in secularism, be transformed into a nation that lives for God’s eternal kingdom through the gospel.
3) During Ramadan, may the gospel of the Lord be proclaimed even more widely, and may the remnant return to the Lord so that the Kurdish people may stand as the Lord’s army.
