[Today’s Prayer] UAE May Join the Iran War… “Considering Strikes on Iranian Missile Bases”

As the aftermath of the Iran War, triggered by US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran and Iran's counter-offensive, spreads across the Middle East, the US online media outlet Axios reported on the 3rd (local time) that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is considering military responses, including attacks on Iranian missile bases, to repel missile and drone attacks.

One source said, “There is no country in the world that would not reassess its defense posture in a situation like this—that is the view within the UAE.”

The source added, “Although it did not participate in the war, the UAE endured approximately 800 projectiles,” and noted that “active defensive measures against Iran are being considered.”

The UAE's consideration of intervention in the war appears to stem from its determination that it can no longer tolerate Iran's indiscriminate attacks on neighboring countries under the pretext of attacking US facilities. Following airstrikes by the US and Israel, Iran has launched counterattacks targeting US military bases and embassies in the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq.

Among these, the UAE has suffered the most attacks from Iran, suffering more attacks than Israel, Axios reported.

According to the UAE Ministry of Defense, Iran launched 186 ballistic missiles toward the UAE, of which 172 were intercepted.

Iran also sent 812 drones toward the UAE; 755 were intercepted, and 57 landed within UAE territory. As a result, three foreign nationals were killed and more than 70 people were injured.

Anwar Gargash, a foreign affairs advisor to the UAE president, said on social media X (formerly Twitter) that Iran's attacks on Gulf countries, including the UAE, were a "miscalculation" and "isolated them at a critical time." He also criticized Iran, saying, "Your war is not a war with your neighbor," and that "the escalation of the conflict only reinforces the perception that Iran is the primary threat to the region and that Iran's missile program is a major source of regional instability."

The UAE Foreign Ministry previously stated in a statement, "The UAE retains the right to self-defense." However, the ministry added that no decision has been made to change its defense posture in response to Iran's repeated attacks.

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. (2 Corinthians 4:6)

As the effects of the Iran war spread throughout the Middle East, we hear that the United Arab Emirates, which has suffered the most attacks from Iran, is considering military retaliation.

Good and gracious God, please touch the hearts of the people of the UAE who are living in fear and anxiety of becoming targets of Iran’s indiscriminate missile attacks. Have mercy upon them.

As tensions among Iran, Israel, and the United States draw global attention beyond the Middle East, we pray that You would grant Your wisdom and sovereign rule to the UAE as it considers striking Iran in order to protect its nation, so that all events may unfold according to Your will.

As the UAE faces the threat of joining the Iranian War, and the clouds of war hang over the entire Middle East, grant the hearts of the impoverished UAE souls a time to respond to the Gospel.

For this purpose, may the global Church not cease in prayer, but proclaim the light of life in Jesus Christ. May the Arab Church arise in unity, seeking only the face of the Lord Jesus, discerning the times, and following the way of the eternal Savior!

Thus, may conflict and suffering disappear from the UAE, the Gulf, and the entire Middle East, and may they become a people who spread shalom to the nations through the power of the name of Jesus Christ, the one and only Prince of Peace!
