[Today's Prayer] Landslide death toll in southern Philippines nears 30... About 90 people are missing

It has been confirmed that 27 people have died so far in a landslide that occurred in a mining area in the southern Philippines.

According to AFP on the 10th, disaster authorities in Davao de Oru province on the southern island of Mindanao announced that 27 people were killed and 32 injured in the accident. The number of missing people reached 89, and the death toll is expected to increase further.

The landslide occurred in Masara village, a mountainous area in Davao de Oro province on the night of the 6th. At the time, three 60-seat buses and a 36-seat jeepney for transporting miners, as well as nearby houses, were buried in the soil.

Authorities are conducting a search at the accident site by mobilizing detection dogs. Earlier, after digging through a pile of dirt with their bare hands and shovels, rescue workers found a 3-year-old girl survivor 60 hours after the landslide and transported her to the hospital.

On the island of Mindanao, frequent earthquakes have occurred recently, weakening the ground, and heavy rain has continued for several weeks. This led to a series of landslides, and at least 18 people were found to have died last week. Currently, hundreds of families from Masara and four nearby villages have left their homes and are staying in shelters, and school classes have also been suspended.

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed it, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take, this is my body.” Then he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them. They all drank from it. And he said, This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. (Mark 14:22-24)

God, the Savior of all things, we hear news of the deaths of children due to earthquakes, heavy rains, and subsequent landslides that continue to occur in the Philippines.

Among the news of earthquakes and disasters that occur as the end of all things approaches, I confess that the only one who can lead them to eternal life is Jesus Christ, the Savior.

With 27 people dead, 32 casualties, and 89 missing due to this accident, please stop the earthquakes and landslides and stop the voices of Filipino souls in pain.

Please reveal the life-saving power of the flesh and blood of Jesus, to all who are groaning which He Himself generously gave for the souls of the Philippines.

In these last days filled with fear of disaster, may the Philippine church go to those who are suffering, share the bread and wine of Jesus' life, and prepare for the fulfillment of the final prophecy through faith!
