Voice of the Martyrs Korea (VOM Korea) highlighted the life and faith of Brother Phat, a Vietnamese evangelist who was martyred during his gospel ministry last March, in observance of the '2026 International Martyrs Day.'
(Omitted)
Hyunsook Foley, representative of VOM Korea, stated, "According to church tradition, June 29 is known as the martyrdom date of the Apostle Paul. During this time, Christians around the world honor the faith heritage of martyrs who gave their lives to spread the gospel."
She continued, "Christian martyrdom is not a story of the past; it continues today. Brother Phat is a modern-day martyr who gave his life for Jesus Christ just a few months ago."
According to VOM Korea, Brother Phat was an evangelist who traveled between various villages in the mountainous regions of Vietnam by motorcycle to spread the gospel. He dedicated his ministry to preaching the gospel and planting churches while navigating rugged mountainous terrain and jungle areas.
Notably, several months before his death, local authorities demolished his house and warned him to stop his gospel ministry, but he reportedly did not stop his evangelistic work.
Brother Phat was attacked and killed on March 11 while returning home from an evangelistic trip. VOM Korea stated that he was assaulted while traveling on his motorcycle, left in a roadside ditch, and subsequently passed away. He left behind a wife and family.
Representative Hyunsook Foley requested, "On this Christian Martyr's Day, we want to remember the life and ministry of Brother Phat. Please pray for his grieving family and for the Vietnamese motorcycle evangelists who are currently continuing the ministry of spreading the gospel."
She also said, "They may look like ordinary farmers in the eyes of the world, but they are great in the kingdom of God. They are living lives of faithfully preaching the gospel even amidst persecution."
Meanwhile, Christian Martyr's Day is a day observed by the global church to remember and pray for Christians who experience persecution and martyrdom for their faith. It serves as an opportunity to raise awareness of the reality of Christians whose freedom of religion is currently restricted in about 70 countries.

He says, "It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also make You a light of the nations so that My salvation may reach to the end of the earth." (Isaiah 49:6)
God, on this Christian Martyr's Day, we hear the news highlighting the life and faith of Brother Phat from Vietnam, who was martyred last March while traveling between various villages in the mountainous regions of Vietnam by motorcycle to spread the gospel, and we hear the request for prayer for the Vietnamese evangelists who are continuing the ministry of spreading the gospel even now.
Please remember Brother Phat, who did not stop testifying to Jesus Christ and was finally offered to the Lord as a single grain of wheat, even though the local authorities in Vietnam demolished his house and strongly warned him to stop his gospel ministry months ago.
Please comfort Brother Phat's surviving family with the love of the Lord's cross.
Like Brother Phat's dedication, please bless all the evangelists and churches in Vietnam who are preaching the gospel with the readiness for martyrdom according to the Lord's calling even now, and grant them a bold faith that is not afraid even in the face of suffering and death.
Through the blood of martyrdom spilled by this event, let a wondrous revival that no one can stop begin from Vietnam, and let more workers arise in Vietnam who will become a light to the nations and boldly testify to the news of Jesus Christ's salvation to the ends of the earth.
Also, let the global church remember Brother Phat's martyrdom and pray together so that the local church in Vietnam can faithfully preach the gospel even amidst persecution. Help them strive to send workers who will teach the Word of God so that the gospel of the kingdom can be testified beyond Vietnam to all nations, quickly preparing the way for the return of Jesus Christ.
Thereby, let Vietnam become a nation that does not turn back even in the face of suffering, but testifies to the gospel to all nations with the readiness for martyrdom, welcoming the glory of the Lord's return!
