[Today’s Prayer] Iran leadership warns of 'Israeli punishment' over explosion of its consulate

Iran's leadership has warned of a tough response to Israel after its consulate in the Syrian capital Damascus was bombed.

According to the state-run IRNA news agency on the 2nd (local time), Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a statement that "A curse will come upon the leaders of the hateful Zionist regime (Israel)."

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that "the sadness of losing him is heavy" over the death of Mohammad Reza Zahedi, commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guard's elite Quds Force, in an airstrike the previous day.

And towards Israel, he said, "We will punish this evil regime with the hands of our brave people," and that, "We will make them regret this crime according to God's will."

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi also issued a statement, saying, "Once again, the dirty hands of the Zionist regime, which committed terrorism and violations of international law, were stained with the blood of our country's officers."

(Omitted)

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, chairman of Iran's parliament (Majlis) said in a statement, "The ignorant leaders of the Zionist regime must know that they cannot influence the will of insurgents to pursue freedom and rights," and that, "Vicious acts will be severely punished."

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian summoned an employee of the U.S. Interest Representative at the Swiss Embassy in Tehran in connection with the airstrike, warning that "the United States must take responsibility."

(Omitted)

The previous day, Iran's mission to the United Nations also vowed to retaliate, saying Israel was responsible for the outcome of the airstrike and that "Iran has a legitimate and unique right to take a decisive response to such reprehensible actions under international law and the UN Charter."

Iran claimed that six missiles shot by Israel were dropped at a consulate building next to the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, the capital of Syria, around noon the previous day. The Syrian government also confirmed the airstrike, and U.S. media reported, citing Israeli sources, that it was an Israeli airstrike.

The airstrike killed about seven people, including Mohammad Reza Zahedi, commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guard's elite Quds Force, Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, deputy commander of Quds Force in Lebanon and Syria, and Hossein Aman Elahi, who is responsible for military operations in the region.

For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you. The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers. But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house. I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you. Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me. (Psalm 5:4-5, 7-8)

We praise our holy Jehovah who has made us holy and righteous through Jesus Christ.

God, many people were killed and injured when Israel launched missiles onto the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria.

The mission to the United Nations has also declared a retaliatory Iranian attack is legal on Israel.

Holy God, would You forgive them who are hating, cursing, and even taking each other’s lives because of sin.

May the blood of Jesus Christ, who has already saved us from all evil and united with God, cover this land.

And so may they return to the holy throne of God once again.

With the everlasting and never changing compassion of the Lord, may the brothers abandon all their hatred of each other.

May they realize that it is satan that makes them hate and may they confront the enemy!

Would You lead them to the path of righteousness so that they will revere You once again!

May this nation come alive as the nation that will highly praise God and enter the gates to dwell with the Lord with life!

May they love their brothers and become a tree of righteousness that bears many fruit through the Lord who lives in them!
