[Today’s prayer] Another kidnapping incident in Nigeria… 61 villagers kidnapped

Another mass kidnapping incident occurred in northern Nigeria, Africa.

According to Reuters and AFP on the 12th (local time), in the early morning of this day, armed forces kidnapped 61 residents, including 32 women and 29 men, in Buda village, Kajuru district, northern Kaduna state.

This marks the fourth large-scale kidnapping incident in northern Nigeria this month alone.

On the 9th, armed forces broke into a school dormitory in Bakuso Village, Sokotu State and kidnapped 15 children, and on the 7th, at least 287 students from a public school in Kuriga Village, Kaduna State were taken away by armed forces. Last week, more than 200 women and children were kidnapped in Borno state.

The military and police have been deployed to the site to search, but no rescue news has yet been delivered.

The force claiming to be behind the kidnapping did not appear. In northern Nigeria, attacks and kidnappings of civilians for ransom by local armed groups called 'Bandits' are frequent.

Most victims are released after paying the ransom, but there are also cases where they remain held or are killed because they cannot pay the ransom.
