Hello. I am Arwa, a Syrian refugee living in Turkiye.

I came to Turkiye seven years ago because of the Syrian civil war.

In February, there was a big earthquake in the city where I live, and while spending every day in fear, I went to a church gathering through my step-brother.

As I learned little by little about Jesus, I received the news that my father, who worked alone in Syria away from the family, suddenly died.

My family was in great sorrow, and my livelihood became more difficult.

However, I kept thinking of Jesus I heard in church. I thought that if I went to Jesus, he could save me from this sadness.

So I took my younger brothers to church services every week, and I began to believe that Jesus was the son of God and died for my sins.

Recently, I started working in a hospital, which made it difficult to go to churchgathering because I didn't have any holidays. I wanted to go to worship so much that I suggested to my boss that I work more on weekdays and be able to attend worship on Sundays, but with God's grace, I was able to come to worship every week. Hallelujah!

I can now confidently confess that Jesus is my savior, my master.

And after being baptized, I want my old self to die and be reborn.

There are times where living in foreign country as a refugee is really hard and lonely, but please pray together that I may become a person who worships and serves Jesus to the end!

“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” which means “God with us”) (Matthew 1:23)

Amen. Thank you, Father God, who loves sister Arwa, for being with her when she is sad and afraid.

We praise Jesus, who became the savior of the sisters Arwa by visiting her, when she was hurt and distressed by war, earthquake, and grief of losing her family.

Please accept the faith of sister Arwa, who did not give up worship until the end, despite difficult situations. And let this seed of faith grow day by day and allow sister Arwa to love and worship God more every day.

We believe that the Lord, who met sister Arwa, will also meet Syrian refugees today, whom they are struggling every day.

Allow the Syrian people to worship only the LORD Immanuel, who has washed all the sins and sorrows with the blood of the cross!
