The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the Israeli army was at a "very high level of (combat) readiness" as violence increased along the Lebanese border.

According to the Guardian, Israeli Military Chief of Staff Herzy Halevi said on the 27th (local time) amidst the escalation of Hezbollah's attacks in Lebanon, "Today we approved various plans for the future. Preparations must be set for an attack if necessary."

He emphasized, "Our military is currently at a very high level of readiness. So far, the offensive here has been managed precisely and carefully. This approach will continue."

On the same day, Benny Gantz, leader of the second opposition National Unity Party, who is participating in Israel's war cabinet, warned that the 'time for diplomacy' is running out, saying that the border situation with Lebanon must change.
