<Yemen>
Yemen is located at the southernmost end of the Arabian Peninsula. Yemen’s land area is about 2.4 times the size of Korea, and its population is about 32 million, with 99.8% of the population being Muslim. Yemen is one of the oldest inhabited regions in human history, preserving traces of ancient civilizations, and it is also one of the main settings of the Arabian Nights. It is also land that became an important background in the Bible, where the Queen of Sheba once ruled and where wealth was gained through trade along the ancient incense route.
Yemen’s capital, Sana’a, is said to have been built by the descendants of Shem, the eldest son of Noah. Yemen, which has a long history of 3,000 years, received Christianity after the event of Pentecost, and by the 6th century even declared Christianity as the state religion. However, in 628, not long after Islam was founded, Yemen became the first Arab nation to accept Islam, and that history has continued until today.
Due to the influence of the Arab Spring that swept through in 2011, Yemen, which had been under a 33-year dictatorship, entered into civil war after the president at that time was killed by Shiite rebels. The conflict took the form of a proxy war between Saudi Arabia supporting the Sunni government forces and Iran supporting the Shiite Houthi rebels, and the war has continued until now. After a six-month ceasefire mediated by the UN in 2022, the intensity of clashes between both sides has greatly decreased. Currently the Houthi rebels control the capital Sana’a, the northern regions, and the Red Sea coast, and most Yemeni citizens live in areas controlled by the Houthi rebels. The Houthis collect taxes from residents and even issue their own currency. The Yemeni government is overseen by an eight-member presidential council to whom President Hadi transferred authority, and it is based in the southern port city of Aden.
Korea designated Yemen as a travel-restricted country starting in 2011, and since then Yemen has become a closed land where the steps of Korean workers bringing the gospel have not been able to reach. Because of the civil war that has continued until now, about 4 million Yemenis have become refugees and left their families and hometowns, and more than 500,000 people, including children and civilians, have died in the war. The rate of child malnutrition in Yemen is one of the most severe in the world, and Yemen currently shows a state fragility index even more severe than Somalia.
Yemenis also observe Ramadan and read the Qur’an in large mosques, but Ramadan in war-torn Yemen remains a time of hunger and hardship. During Ramadan in 2023, there was a relief distribution event at a local school during the Ramadan period, but an unexpected power line explosion caused panic among the crowd, leading to a crush that killed 80 people. In 2024, the Houthi forces strengthened military operations attacking American and Israeli ships in the Red Sea during Ramadan. As of 2026, the Yemeni Houthi rebels have also joined the war between Iran and the United States, declaring their determination to make the criminal nation of America and the Western imperialist forces regret their acts of aggression. In response, the U.S. military announced plans to land directly in Yemen to eliminate the Houthi forces.
All those from Sheba will come, bringing gold and incense, and proclaiming the praise of the Lord (Isaiah 60:6)
Amen! God has called the nation of Yemen to be a people who proclaim the praise of the Lord. Among this nation, the poorest in the world, driven toward death through war, famine, and starvation and scattered across the world, the eternal light of Jesus Christ and the glory of the Lord will come upon them.
Recently through social media there has been news that a Yemeni MBB brother is sharing the gospel. Even in persecution and fear, not sparing even his life, through this brother who proclaims the Jesus he met, we will see many Yemeni souls come alive again through the Spirit of God.
My people, I will open your graves and bring you up from them. Then you will know that I am the Lord. I will put My Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken and I have done it, declares the Lord (Ezekiel 37:13-14)
To the Yemeni souls who wander and live scattered throughout the world after leaving this nation that is like a grave where even light does not enter, the Lord will pour out the Holy Spirit so that they will live again and become God’s holy people who reveal the glory of the Lord and offer praise to God.
God’s plan for the restoration and revival of Yemen has already begun. We proclaim that the glory of the Lord and His light have come upon Yemen, which once had no hope because of darkness and death! Yemen, arise and shine! Bring gold and incense and proclaim the praise of the Lord!
[Today’s Prayer]
Christ gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen (Galatians 1:4-5)
Thank you, Lord, for revealing Your plan of salvation to Yemen. We praise You, Lord, who are already working to grant the grace of redemption according to the will of God. Let Yemen come alive through the love of Jesus Christ who gave His life for Yemen. Let that love be revealed and proclaimed to the nation and to all the nations, so that Yemen may arise as a holy nation that glorifies God!
Please let the church in Yemen arise only through the power of the gospel. Let this land where countless seeds of the gospel have been sown be restored through Jesus Christ alone. Break every fear and grant victory so that the church may arise as a holy church that even the powers of hell cannot overcome. Church of Yemen, arise! Break all fear through the power of the gospel alone, overcome all darkness, and be established as a church that shines the light of the Lord!
<Saudi Arabia>
Saudi Arabia occupies about 80% of the Arabian Peninsula and is a strategic center of the Middle East, as well as the heart of the Islamic world where the two holy cities of Islam, Mecca and Medina, are located. Even within its harsh desert climate, this land has preserved a strong tribal culture, and it is also a symbol of an oil-rich nation that has exercised enormous influence in the international community based on some of the world’s largest natural resources.
As of 2026, Saudi Arabia is rapidly transforming into a young and dynamic hub of the Middle East through the national reform project “Vision 2030” and the construction of “NEOM City.” However, behind this wave of secular change flows a far greater spiritual plan prepared by God. This is because the younger generation, which makes up more than half the population, and local Christians who have just begun to confess their faith are facing not the vision that the world speaks of, but the eternal vision of heaven.
Saudi Arabia is a nation that has received the words of Isaiah 21 as a legacy. Those who have passed through the harsh trials of the wilderness must now begin the holy ministry of Arabia—giving living water to the thirsty and feeding the bread of life to those fleeing from war.
You who live in the land of Tema, bring water for the thirsty; you who live in Dedan, bring food for the fugitives (Isaiah 21:14)
Last year, local believers who were baptized experienced Ramadan for the first time. Although they are still passing through the valley of the shadow of death where they cannot boldly confess their faith due to strong Islamic traditions and the watchful eyes of family members, they are experiencing the Lord’s comfort by reading five chapters of the Psalms every day. Even though they are currently living carefully and going through difficult times, we believe that this suffering is a process through which they are being shaped into soldiers of faith who will fulfill Isaiah 21.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me (Psalm 23:1, 4)
As they keep their faith, even though they walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we believe they will not be afraid because of Jesus who is with them, and that they will rely on the Lord’s perfect protection and overcome in victory.
And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it (Matthew 16:18)
There is an unceasing power of Hades that attacks believers. Alone we are weak, but when we gather as the church we can overcome the power of Hades. We pray that during the remaining days of Ramadan they will confess their faith to their families and experience breakthrough. We desire that local believers will strive to gather as the church and experience the victory of the church that overcomes the power of Hades. We praise Jesus, who is victorious and the head of the church.
[Today’s Prayer]
Break the chains of Islam and shine the light of truth! Living and almighty God! In the name of Jesus Christ we break the religious rituals of Islam and all worldly powers covering Saudi Arabia. During Ramadan, let Muslims realize the emptiness of these futile rituals and come to seek Jesus, who is the truth. Come as the light of life and save the Muslims of Saudi Arabia!
Raise up a missionary army that will lead 2.1 billion Muslims to the Lord! God, the Saudi church is a holy channel that will lead 2.1 billion Muslims to Jesus. Let local Christians rise up, breaking through all fear, and stand as the Saudi church that gives living water to the thirsty and feeds the bread of life to those who flee, just as in Isaiah 21. Let missionary disciples raised from the holy land of Islam go out with the gospel to the entire Muslim world, and let the full number of the Gentiles return and prepare the way for the Lord’s return.
