[Today's Prayer] Tunisia recovers 901 bodies of drowned migrants that tried to cross to Europe

Tunisia in North Africa, announced on the 26th (local time) that 901 bodies of drowned migrants have been recovered off its coast this year.

According to Reuters, Tunisian Interior Minister Kamel Peki said that of the 901 bodies, 36 were Tunisians and 267 were foreign migrants.

Tunisia is located about 130 km from the Italian island of Lampedusa, and is a starting point for refugees from Africa who dream of a new life in Europe and board a small boat.

Illegal migrants, numbering in the hundreds or thousands, stow away to Southern Europe on shoddy boats operated by human traffickers. There are no safety devices on these illegal migration boats, and many people die when they sink.

The number of migrants who arrived in Italy from January this year to July 14 last year was 75,065, more than doubling the number for the same period last year (31,920). Reuters said more than half of them were from Tunisia.

God, we hear that migrant boats en route to Europe have sunk off the coast of Tunisia, and hundreds of people continue to lose their lives.

This news, which is heard continuously every year, gives us a sense of desperation of Tunisian and African souls who have no choice but to head to Europe, even risking their lives because they cannot find any hope of living in their own countries.

We confess that our Lord Jesus is the only one who can satisfy the desperation of these people which no country, religion or anything else can solve, the one who did not spare his life to save them and who will wipe away their unending tears.

Would You open the eyes and ears of the souls in Tunisia and Africa who are suffering and hungering for the truth, so that they can hear the word of truth that You speak to them and see the face of the living Lord Jesus.

So now let them throw away the evil ways and evil deeds they followed and return to the Lord, and let them be restored as a holy nation that will not spare their lives for the eternal kingdom of God until the day we go to the heavenly home You have prepared for us!
