[Today's Prayer] Trump, Said He Would Save Afghan Refugees... But Some Have Already Been Repatriated
US President Donald Trump said he would save Afghan refugees in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) who are at risk of being deported, but some of them have already been repatriated, Reuters reported on the 20th (local time).
On that day, President Trump linked to a media report on the social media 'TrueSocial' that the UAE government was planning to deport about 30 Afghan refugees back to their home country this week and said, "I will work to save them. I will start right away."
However, according to an internal diplomatic cable from the US State Department obtained by Reuters, the UAE government has already repatriated some of the Afghan refugees and has shared this information with the US government.

The diplomatic cable also states that the UAE government explained that it would ask the Taliban, the ruling party in Afghanistan, to ensure the safety of the repatriated refugees.
Reuters reported that "Based on what President Trump posted on TruthSocial, he appears to have been unaware of the UAE's plans."
After the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan in 2021, the UAE accepted as refugees those who helped the US military during the Afghan war and their families, and housed them in refugee camps in Abu Dhabi.
For refugees, repatriation rather than seeking asylum in the US or a third country can be a fearful option, as they could face retaliation from the Taliban, which has successfully regained power in Afghanistan.
In fact, Reuters reported, citing multiple sources familiar with the matter, that the two Afghan refugee families who were recently repatriated did not volunteer for the repatriation, contrary to the UAE government's explanation.
The UAE government and the Taliban forced the families to choose between signing a letter agreeing to voluntary repatriation or being arrested and forcibly repatriated.

"So Ananias departed and entered the house. And laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized;" (Acts 9:17-18)
Father God, although US President Donald Trump has announced that he will rescue Afghan refugees who are at risk of being deported from the United Arab Emirates, some of them have already been repatriated to their home countries, and those who helped US troops during the Afghan War and their families are said to be subject to retaliation by the Taliban.
Please have mercy on the Afghan souls who have been waiting for help from the US, but have been repatriated to their home countries without proper protection, and are living in fear amid the risk of retaliation from the Taliban.
Please let the Afghan souls not hope for the protection of a world that is not eternal and perfect, but let them meet God who loves the Afghan people to the point of death and protects and guards them with the love in which he gave up His Son.
Just as Saul, who persecuted Jesus, met Christ and regained his sight through Ananias, was baptized, and became a disciple of Jesus Christ, may the global church and the Afghan church become like Ananias, whom the Lord has prepared, and fully proclaim the word of God to the Afghan people.
Therefore, please give grace to the Afghan souls who have been spiritually blind for a long time and lived in fear of death, that their eyes may be opened and they be baptized.
Now, let them become the eternal citizens of heaven and live as holy disciples of the Lord like the Apostle Paul, who spread the grace and gospel of God in the midst of the dark world.
Let the Afghan souls see the history of people coming to life wherever they go!
Let the Afghan souls see the disciples of Jesus rising among all nations!
