The Afghan Taliban and the Pakistani government, who recently engaged in armed clashes, have agreed to a 48-hour ceasefire.
According to Reuters, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry announced on the 15th (local time) that both sides had agreed to a temporary ceasefire for 48 hours starting at 6 p.m. that day (10 p.m. Korea time).
The Foreign Ministry stated, “Pakistan and Afghanistan will make sincere efforts through dialogue to find a positive solution to this complex but solvable issue.”
Earlier that morning, the Taliban and Pakistan exchanged fire. The Taliban claimed that 15 civilians were killed in the clash, while both sides blamed each other for initiating the attack.

The conflict began when Pakistan launched an airstrike on Afghan territory on the 10th. The airstrike was reportedly targeting Nur Wali Mehsud, leader of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), an Islamist militant group responsible for terrorist activity within Pakistan.

Yet he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make known his mighty power. He rebuked the Red Sea, and it became dry, and he led them through the deep as through a desert. So he saved them from the hand of the foe and redeemed them from the power of the enemy. And the waters covered their adversaries; not one of them was left. Then they believed his words; they sang his praise. (Psalm 106:8-12)
Lord, we hear that the tension—sparked by Pakistan’s airstrikes and escalating into large-scale armed conflict—has led to a 48-hour ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and Afghanistan, leaving room for dialogue.
Thank You, Lord, for allowing even this temporary ceasefire. Though it lasts only 48 hours, please receive the prayers lifted for Pakistan and Afghanistan and guide them to walk in the path of peace.
Have mercy on Pakistan and Afghanistan, who continue to clash because of the Taliban. Remember Afghanistan, still under Taliban control, and let Jesus, our only Savior, reign over the Afghan people.
Our Lord destroys every enemy and powerfully saves His people. Lord, send workers to preach the gospel to those who are suffering and perishing without knowing You.
May the local churches in Pakistan and Afghanistan awaken to pray. Let them experience the Lord who works through prayer and become churches that boldly proclaim the salvation of Jesus.
May the day soon come when Pakistan and Afghanistan are saved, believe in Your promises, move forward in faith, and sing songs of praise to You together with all the nations!
