[Today’s Prayer] Nigerian militants raid Christian school... About 10 people kidnapped

In Ekiti State, Nigeria, six children attending a Christian school, three teachers, and a school bus driver were kidnapped by gunmen believed to be of the Fulani tribe.

Nigerian media 'Vanguard' reported that around 5pm on January 29 (local time), 10 students and teachers from Apostolic Faith School in Ekiti were attacked by Islamic militants while returning home after a field trip.

The state government has confirmed the incident and is working to bring the children and teachers to safety, while police have launched a joint search and rescue operation in the area where the kidnapping occurred.

“The kidnapping of the students is unacceptable,” Governor Biodun Oyebanji said in a statement.

“We will spare no effort to rescue them,” he said. “Citizens should also remain calm and vigilant, and share information with the authorities.”

According to one source, the kidnappers reportedly contacted the victims' families and demanded more than US$32,000 as a condition for their release.

Pastor Johnnie Moore, an American evangelical leader and chairman of the Christian Leadership Conference, shared a video of an empty school bus on his X (formerly Twitter) and said, “Christians are killed or kidnapped every day in Nigeria. Tragedies keep happening, but the world doesn’t blink,” he said, expressing regret.

8 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. (Romans 6:8-9).

God, we hear news that children and teachers attending Christian schools have been kidnapped in Nigeria, where persecution against Christians continues.

Lord, the Shepherd of Nigeria, have mercy on the children and teachers who are trembling in fear, and help them to rely only on the Lord with the belief that Jesus Christ, who has already triumphed over the power of death, is with them and that no one and nothing can harm them.

Please send the angels of heaven among them and protect them from any harm, and guide them so that they can be quickly released from bondage and return to their families.

We also pray for the Nigerian church that is fighting the battle of faith amidst constant persecution and persecution.

Please fill the cup of suffering left behind by the Lord Jesus and anoint the Nigerian church that is walking the path of the cross with the anointing of the Holy Spirit, so that they can become a Nigerian church that triumphs only through faith.

By believing that death can never rule over us again, let us rise only with the power of resurrection and carry out our mission as witnesses to boldly testify the gospel of the kingdom of heaven given to us by the Lord in Nigeria and among the nations.

So, through the Nigerian church, all nations will see the image of Jesus carrying the cross, and may all nations offer praise of thanks to the Lord for that cross!
