Hello. My name is Lola, and I live in Uzbekistan. (Sister)
Since middle school, I have wanted to go to Korea, so I have been attending a Korean language academy. I enjoy learning Korean so much that when classes end, I do not even want to go back home.
When I was at home, I would think about my father who left me and my family when I was five years old. I also had to endure my mother’s harsh words as she struggled to make a living. My family and even my boyfriend were the same, so no matter how hard I looked, I felt there was no one who truly understood or loved me. My heart became exhausted and full of pain.
In the middle of that sadness, I suddenly thought of my academy teacher and contacted them. The next day when I met the teacher, they shared the love of Jesus with me for the first time. It felt as though something cold and frozen inside me was melting warmly, and I began to feel peace in my heart. Then my teacher and I made a promise to read the Bible and sing worship songs together once a week so that I could learn more about the love of Jesus.
Then one day, Korean friends around my age visited the academy and spent time meeting with the Uzbek students. Although I was nervous and we did not talk very much, I could tell they were truly kind and warmhearted friends. They also told me about who Jesus is.
As time passed, the Holy Spirit opened my heart, and I accepted Jesus. While watching a film about Jesus, I learned how He carried the cross and suffered for me, and I could not stop crying.
Not long ago, some classmates saw the Bible app on my phone and asked if I had converted to Christianity. I confessed to them that I had become a Christian, and they pressured me to return to Islam. At that moment, Jesus gave me courage like Daniel, and I boldly declared to them that Jesus alone is my Savior. Now I want to share Jesus boldly with others as well.
Please pray that I will continue living a life proclaiming that Jesus is the eternal friend of both me and Uzbekistan!
“I write to you, children, because you know the Father. I write to you, fathers, because you know Him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.” (1 John 2:14)
We praise You, Lord, for loving Sister Lola and giving her a desire to learn even in the midst of a difficult family environment, and for sending people to share the Gospel with her so she could come to know the love of Jesus.
May Sister Lola become someone who deeply fellowships with Jesus through times of reading the Word and worshiping You. Holy Spirit, please grant her gifts so that she may fellowship in the Gospel with young people across borders and nations.
Please give Sister Lola opportunities to keep her faith with the boldness of Daniel and to proclaim the Gospel. Let her experience the joy of declaring Jesus as Savior to the young people of Uzbekistan who are bound by harsh Islam.
For this purpose, awaken the Uzbek church so that together they may raise up Uzbek young people in the Word for Central Asia and the nations, nurture them with faith that overcomes the world, and send them out.
And may You pour out the vision of Jesus Christ, who raises up every generation, upon Uzbekistan, and use it as the heart of the nations that will complete the final revival along the Silk Road!
