[Today’s Prayer] Myanmar Typhoon Deaths and Missing 163… Military Regime Requests Unusual Foreign Aid

As super typhoon 'Yagi' hits Myanmar following the Philippines and Vietnam, the number of deaths is rapidly increasing, and the Myanmar military regime has made an unusual request for support from foreign countries.

According to AFP and AP on the 15th (local time), Myanmar's military junta leader, Commander-in-Chief Min Aung Hlaing, told local media on the 13th, "Government officials need to contact foreign countries to receive rescue and relief material support to provide to the victims."

According to Myanmar state television, 74 people were killed and 89 people were missing in Myanmar as of the previous day due to floods and landslides caused by Yagi.

However, it is difficult to assess the damage due to the long civil war and communication disruption in many areas caused by the typhoon.

Considering this, there are concerns that the actual scale of damage could be greater, with the number of deaths increasing sharply in the future.

In relation to this, local media reported that there are more than 100 missing people.

The military regime also announced that 235,000 residents had been evacuated due to the earthquake, and that 65,000 houses, 24 bridges, and 375 school buildings had been damaged.

Low-lying areas in central and eastern Shan State, including Mandalay, Myanmar's second largest city, and the capital Naypyidaw have been flooded since the 11th due to heavy rain brought by Typhoon Yagi.

For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, (2 Corinthians 5:1-2)

God We hear heartbreaking news that the death toll is rising rapidly as Typhoon Yagi hits Myanmar.

The Myanmar military junta is unusually reaching out to foreign countries for rescue/relief supplies.

Lord, we ask You to have compassion on the souls of Myanmar who have lost their homes, families, and schools.

We ask that You anoint these souls and send Your Holy Spirit upon them as they gaze upon the tabernacles of this land that have been torn down in a single day.

Lift up the eyes of those who are in pain, that they may realize that we have an eternal home in heaven.

Allow them to believe that the eternal home from heaven is ours through Jesus Christ, so that the pain of death, which is now upon us, may be swallowed up by life.

And let the Myanmar people rise up as a nation full of joy with eternal life!
