Hello? I am Maung, living in Myanmar.

Before believing in Jesus, I was a drug addict and illiterate, unable to read or write.

On the day of my aunt's funeral, while keeping vigil through the night, I met a foreign friend and talked with him. That friend shared the gospel of Jesus Christ with me.

As I heard about Jesus, my curiosity grew, and I asked, “Would God accept someone like me, a drug addict?”

Then my friend replied, “Jesus loves everyone. If you want to quit drugs, let's pray together.”

Right then, I resolved to quit drugs and wanted to go to church. After that, as I attended church and participated in youth group, my faith grew.

After time passed and I was baptized at church, even though I couldn't read well, I wanted to read the Bible. So I prayed to God and gradually learned to read.

The biggest difficulty I faced was that memorizing the Bible was incredibly hard.

Some church elders who knew me from before found it difficult to accept me because of my past as a drug addict. They even hesitated to teach me the Bible.

Even so, when I persevered in prayer to God without becoming discouraged, He gave me wisdom. Gradually, memorizing Scripture became easier, and I eventually grew to the point where I could recite Bible verses. Hallelujah!

My testimony is about overcoming drugs and experiencing a transformed life. From being illiterate, I became someone who can read and memorize the Bible. My life has been completely renewed in Jesus Christ.

Even now, wherever I go, I share the gospel and testify about Jesus. Please pray that I may become someone who constantly memorizes God's Word and boldly proclaims it as I go forward!

He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” (Luke 10:18-20)

Praise the Lord who loves Brother Maung, rescued him from the mire of drug addiction, enriched him with wisdom through His Word, and now enables him to live as an evangelist in Myanmar.

May Brother Maung become one who testifies to the grace that enabled him to learn to read through the Word and be filled with the Holy Spirit—a life transformed from seeking solace in drugs due to illiteracy—and who now shares hope with the youth of Myanmar.

May the Myanmar church recognize God's wisdom—who changed the world through tax collectors and prostitutes, the very ones deemed lacking—cover Brother Maung's past with Jesus' love, and grow together as a community.

Praise the Lord who grants us the power to subdue all the enemy's forces as we proclaim the gospel. May Brother Maung and the Myanmar church joyfully press on until every soul in Myanmar has their name written in heaven.

Thus, may the Myanmar people fulfill their mission to inscribe the names of ASEAN nations and all peoples in the Book of Life!
