[Today’s Prayer] Migrant Boat Bound for Europe Sinks off Tunisia, 40 Dead

A migrant boat bound for Europe sank off the coast of North African Tunisia, killing 40 people.

According to AFP on the 22nd (local time), a spokesperson for the local prosecutor’s office said, “Initial investigations indicate that there were 70 people on board the vessel at the time of the incident,” and added, “The bodies of 40 victims, including infants, have been recovered.”

The spokesperson continued, “Thirty people were rescued,” and added that “most of the deceased and rescued migrants were from sub-Saharan African countries.”

Tunisia, located close to southern Italy, continues to see an unending stream of migrants from Africa and the Middle East attempting to cross the Mediterranean by boat to reach Europe.

Jesus, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth, please bring forth the work of salvation throughout Africa at this time.

May Tunisia and Africa come to know Jesus, who is the Truth, be set free, and live lives satisfied only in the gospel.

Awaken the churches of Africa to rise up and pray for this, and enable the global Church to provide and support Africa with what it needs.

Let Tunisia and Africa not live by the values of this world or by wealth, but fulfill their calling to proclaim the cross of Jesus, who atoned for our sins, to all nations.

Raise up the churches of Africa to send missionaries and fulfill the vision of 2 million African missionaries. May the Maghreb region and all of Africa together prepare the way for the coming of the Lord!
