[Today’s Prayer] Jordanian Senator Visits Evangelical Committee… “We Must Cooperate with All Christians”

A high-ranking senator in Jordan recently expressed solidarity with the evangelical community. This move has drawn attention because it came after evangelical representatives were excluded from a previous parliamentary meeting with Christian church leaders.

Michael Nazzal, chairman of the Tourism Committee in the Jordanian Senate, visited the headquarters of the Evangelical Free Church in the Khalda area of Amman on the 11th. There, he met with retired Major General Imad Ma'ayah, chairman of the Evangelical Committee, along with other committee officials.

At a previous parliamentary senate office meeting, Catholic and Orthodox leaders attended discussions regarding Jordan’s “2030 Millennium Plan” related to commemorating the baptism of Jesus. However, evangelical leaders were not invited to participate.

Currently, the committee oversees 57 churches nationwide as well as educational, medical, and humanitarian aid organizations, interdenominational groups, and prison ministries, supporting both Jordanian citizens and refugees.

Chairman Ma'ayah also introduced himself as the chairman of the Fellowship of Middle East Evangelical Churches in Palestine and Israel. He additionally mentioned that the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) elected Pastor Botrus Mansour of the Nazarene Church as secretary general during its general assembly held in Korea last October.

Senator Nazzal stated, “Until now, I did not fully understand the scale and wide-ranging activities of evangelical ministries in Jordan,” and requested that the evangelical community actively cooperate with the Jordanian government’s pilgrimage projects and the 2030 commemorative events for the traditional baptism site of Jesus on the east side of the Jordan River.

Chairman Ma'ayah expressed hope that this visit would become an opportunity for positive change. He said, “I hope Jordan’s policymakers will understand the importance of having an open attitude toward all Christian communities and will cooperate with us as a bridge connecting to the evangelical world.”

“O God, we give thanks to You, and Your name is near; people declare Your wondrous works.” (Psalm 75:1)

We hear the joyful news that a senior Jordanian senator has expressed solidarity with the evangelical community and has officially requested active cooperation from the evangelical community in various government-level events.

May this meeting become a channel that changes the spiritual atmosphere of Jordan, and may it lead Jordan’s policymakers to adopt an open attitude toward the Christian community and work together with them.

Bless the evangelical community, and may You be with all of their ministries with even greater anointing.

At this time when Your name is near, may the churches of Jordan, Palestine, and Israel unite through Chairman Ma'ayah, who serves as chairman of the Fellowship of Middle East Evangelical Churches in Palestine and Israel, and proclaim Your wondrous works among all nations.

May Jordan, Palestine, and Israel rise together to fulfill the work of God’s Kingdom in the last days! May we witness the restoration of the Gentile nations and the coming of peace upon Israel!
