The Taliban regime, which rules Afghanistan, has claimed that civilians were killed in a drone strike carried out by Pakistan.

According to AP and other sources on the 30th (local time), the Afghan Taliban authorities stated that Pakistan recently conducted airstrikes on two locations within Afghanistan, killing three civilians and injuring seven.

All casualties were reported in Spera District, Khost Province, in southeastern Afghanistan near the border with Pakistan. In Shinwari District, Nangarhar Province, a house struck by a bomb completely collapsed.

The Afghan Foreign Ministry condemned the strikes on the two border areas as an act of provocation by Pakistan and summoned the Pakistani ambassador in Kabul to deliver a protest, AP reported.

However, the Pakistani government and military authorities have yet to make any statement regarding the strikes.

Although Pakistan and Afghanistan are Islamic brother nations and neighboring states, relations have deteriorated since the Taliban regained power in Afghanistan in 2021.

In Pakistan, the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which aims to overthrow the government and establish a state governed by Islamic law (Sharia), remains active.

Pakistan has frequently accused the Afghan Taliban of tolerating militant activities near the border, an allegation the Taliban has denied.

“But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in You.” (Psalm 39:7)

Heavenly Father, we hear the heartbreaking news that three civilians were killed and seven injured in southeastern and eastern Afghanistan as a result of Pakistan’s drone strike.

Lord, we ask that You visit the grieving families who lost loved ones and the Afghan people who lost their homes. Grant them true comfort through Your Word, and guide them so that their bodies and hearts may be restored quickly.

Though neighbors, Afghanistan and Pakistan have entered into worsening relations since the rise of the Taliban regime, with mutual accusations of tolerating militant activity and now even military clashes.

Through the cross of Jesus Christ, may hostility and strife cease. Let the suffering of civilians in Afghanistan and Pakistan also come to an end.

Strengthen the Afghan church and the Pakistani church to stand in deeper unity through prayer. As they press forward with prayer and the proclamation of the gospel, pour out grace upon them so that they may overcome suffering and fear, and proclaim the love of Christ to their neighbors.

May the global church also intercede with tears for Afghanistan and Pakistan, and go forth to bring the gospel to both nations. May countless Afghan and Pakistani souls who hear the gospel place their hope only in You, and sing praises to the Lamb, Jesus Christ, who is coming again.

In these last days, may Afghanistan and Pakistan rise up as God’s hidden army—overflowing with the joy of salvation and proclaiming the gospel of the Kingdom to all nations!
