[Today's Prayer] Iran's Supreme Leader "Prompt Trials and Executions for Protesters"... Estimated 12,000 Deaths in Bloody Crackdown

As the head of Iran's judiciary announces prompt trials and executions for those detained in anti-government protests, the controversy over human rights violations in the crackdown is intensifying. Claims that at least 12,000 people have been killed in the massive crackdown have been raised, sparking growing concern in the international community.

On the 14th (local time), Iranian state media reported that Ebrahim Raisi, the head of Iran's judiciary, said at a recent meeting, "We will conduct prompt trials for protesters who have harmed national security, and immediately execute those found guilty." He also stated, "There will be no tolerance for rioters linked to hostile forces."

Many victims are under 30 years old, and the media has described the situation as "an unprecedented event in terms of geographical scope, intensity of violence, and number of deaths in a short period of time," labeling it as "not a spontaneous clash, but an organized massacre." However, these claims have not been independently verified due to internet and communication blockages across Iran.

The International Human Rights Organization (IHR) based in Norway reported that as of the 17th day of the protests, at least 734 people have been killed in 15 Iranian provinces, and thousands more have been injured. Unofficially, the death toll is estimated to be over 6,000.

IHR also reported that at least 80 people have been killed by live fire in Mahallat since the start of the communication blockade on the 8th. Some victims were hit by both rubber and live bullets, and in some cases, bodies have not been recovered.

On the other hand, the Iranian government is significantly downplaying the scale of the casualties. According to Reuters, an Iranian government official said the number of protest-related deaths is around 2,000, while the United Nations, citing its own sources, estimates the number in the hundreds.

Pillay Turk, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, said, "This horrific cycle of violence must stop," and emphasized, "The voices of the Iranian people demanding justice, equality, and fairness must be heard."

And now, after I have returned, I will rebuild the collapsed tent of David, and I will raise up what was torn down by it. I will restore the remnant of my people, and I will call those of all the Gentiles who are called by my name, to come and worship me. (Acts 15:16-17)

Lord, we hear the news that swift trials and executions are being announced for those detained due to anti-government protests in Iran, and that at least 12,000 people have died as a result of large-scale violent crackdowns.

Especially as many of the victims are young people under the age of 30, with an unprecedented number of deaths occurring in such a short time, this land appears to be filled with conflict and death. Yet we believe that You have preserved a remnant in the midst of it.

Lord, even now, among Iranian youth who are dying without knowing the truth yet searching for the truth, please cause Iranian Christians to swiftly deliver the gospel, so that the gospel may go before death. Lead the Iranian youth onto the path of life.

May the global Church join in this work, proclaim the truth in Iran, and now raise up countless multitudes in Iran who seek and follow the Lord.

Through this, please restore the fallen tabernacle of David in Iran, and even if suffering comes, even if death comes, raise them up as an army that follows You alone to the very end, and make them a nation that prepares the way for the Lord’s return.
