[Today’s Prayer] Iran Executes 3 People Involved in Anti-Government Protests… “Charged with Killing Police”

Iranian authorities have carried out the executions of three men who were arrested earlier this year for participating in anti-government protests.

According to Iranian state media on the 19th (local time), the individuals executed that day were accused of killing two police officers with weapons such as knives during a protest on January 8.

In addition to murder charges, they were also charged with “moharebeh” (being an enemy of Allah, denying Islam), which is considered one of the most serious crimes under Iran’s Islamic law. The maximum penalty for moharebeh is death.

Iran’s judiciary stated that it was proven they had engaged in espionage for Israel and the United States or had acted in ways that benefited those countries, and that the death sentences were finalized by the Supreme Court.

The executions were carried out in Qom, a religious holy city in Iran.

Authorities have repeatedly claimed that foreign powers such as Israel and the United States were behind the protests, which began earlier this year due to economic difficulties and spread nationwide, inciting internal unrest.

While Iranian authorities stated that the number of deaths during the violent suppression of the protests was around 3,000, overseas Iranian human rights organizations estimate the actual number to be much higher.

Previously, Mizan News Agency, operated by Iran’s judiciary, reported that a man named Kourosh Keyvani, who was charged with spying for Israel, was executed the day before. He was reportedly arrested during the 12-day war with Israel in June of last year.

Even in the midst of war, have mercy on the people of Iran who uphold an Islamic regime. In this time of mutual attacks and conflict, we ask that You alone would intervene in the nation of Iran.

Jesus, the Good Shepherd, please lead the people of Iran. May the many souls in Iran who do not know Jesus, who laid down His life for us, come to know Him. Raise up those who know God.

We believe that at this time, Your rule is needed. In the midst of political and economic hardship, may Jesus reign over and guide the people of Iran. Govern them with true comfort and true truth.

Through the prayers of the Iranian church and the global church, who are crying out with tears before You, grant greater revival and restoration to the people of Iran. Through Iran, may Israel and all nations return to the Lord.
