[Today’s Prayer] International Christian Concern (ICC) Director: “China is nearing a tipping point… Large-scale protests are spreading”

Amidst economic uncertainty and social unrest under President Xi Jinping, a new crackdown on Christianity is in full swing in China.

The Chinese government is arresting pastors simply for receiving tithes and offerings, and is also restricting the activities of foreign missionaries across the board. Despite this, Christianity is gradually spreading throughout China.

“China is nearing a tipping point,” said Jeff King, director of International Christian Concern (ICC), in a recent interview with CBN News. “Large-scale protests demanding democracy, centered around students, are spreading across the country.”

He continued, “People find the truth in the midst of suffering. They cry out for democracy, but what they really need is ‘faith.’”

Since May 1, the Chinese government has further strengthened regulations on foreign missionary activities. Bob Fu, CEO of China Aid, said, “Most foreign missionaries I know are doing medical services, supporting orphanages, or working as businessmen or students. However, the government regulates and expels all of their activities.”

Currently, foreigners in China cannot preach or teach without prior approval from the Communist Party, and missionary work is essentially done in secret.

In addition, the Three-Self Patriotic Church, China’s officially registered church, is required to sing the Communist Party anthem and praise communist heroes before services.

The Chinese Communist Party is establishing a comprehensive surveillance system in churches. Facial recognition cameras are required to be installed in all corners of the church, including the pulpit, to track and monitor all believers who attend services.

God, despite the fact that a new crackdown on Christianity is in full swing in China amidst socioeconomic instability under President Xi Jinping’s regime, we hear news that Christianity is gradually spreading throughout China.

Please repay the Chinese government’s actions of arresting pastors, strengthening regulations on the activities of foreign missionaries, and persecuting churches simply for receiving tithes and offerings, and please protect the believers who are keeping their faith even in the midst of extreme persecution.

Countless blood of martyrs has been shed in China, where God loved and allowed the gospel. Please let the Chinese church become one that willingly goes forward with the gospel, relying on the Lord to the end, dying and living for the Lord.

Also, while the Three-Self Church, officially registered with the Chinese Communist Party, sings the Communist Party song before services and praises communist heroes, please let the Chinese Christians stand boldly before the truth and not kneel before worldly power, and proclaim that only Jesus Christ is the King of China.

Please protect and guard the numerous house churches and underground churches, and lead the global church to those who rise up with them, hoping for revival, holding the gospel and love, and praying for intercession.

So, let the Chinese church become one that sends out 1 million missionaries to the ends of the earth to prepare the way for the Lord’s return, advancing westward for Jesus and the gospel with all its life!
