[Today’s Prayer] Indonesia floods, landslides kill 17 and 8 missing

Officials said on the 21st that the bodies of 17 mountain residents who were swept away by flash floods or buried under mudslides on the Indonesian island of Java have been recovered.
Eight people are missing. In Pekalongan, Java Province, heavy rain the previous day caused rivers to overflow, sending mud and fallen trees rolling down into a remote mountain village.
Police, soldiers, and rescue workers are searching through the rubble in the village using excavators and agricultural equipment, or with their bare hands.
Bad weather, landslides, and rugged mountainous terrain are hampering rescue efforts. People who were fishing in the river and residents who were taking refuge from the heavy rain were swept away by the floodwaters.
Indonesia, which consists of 17,000 islands, is prone to floods and landslides during the seasonal heavy rains that fall from October to March. Many people live in mountainous areas or near fertile floodplains.
In December last year, 12 people died from floods, landslides, and storms in Sukabumi, West Java Province. In November, 20 people died from heavy rains in North Sumatra Province.

You will be his witness to all people of what you have seen and heard. 16 And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.’ (Acts 22:15-16)
We hear the sad news that 17 people have been killed and eight are missing after flooding and landslides on the Indonesian island of Java, and that the ensuing bad weather and difficult terrain are making rescue efforts difficult.
Lord, comfort the families who have lost loved ones in this tragedy, and may you protect and guide the search for those who are missing.
In Indonesia, where floods and landslides have claimed lives every month of the rainy season since November and December of last year and into January of this year, would you open the way for the government to implement concrete measures to prevent recurrence and open the way for supplies to reach where they are needed.
Let the global church care for Indonesia, share the gospel, and work together to take proactive measures.
Let the witnesses of the global church, who know that one soul is worth more than a thousand, serve Indonesia, and let Indonesian souls be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, washed from their sins and trained in the Word.
Do let Indonesian people be the ones harmed by water, but baptized people with water and Holy Spirit, serving the nations along the Asian Highway!
