[Today's Prayer] Hezbollah Acting Leader: "We Will Fight Israel to the End"

The Lebanese militant group Hezbollah has publicly declared its intention to continue fighting Israel through its next-in-line leader for the first time since the assassination of its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, on the 30th.

According to the Associated Press, Naim Qassem, the organization's deputy secretary-general directly under Nasrallah, said in a televised address at noon that day that if Israel decides to go beyond an air war to a ground war, Hezbollah fighters are fully prepared to fight and defend Lebanon.

In particular, several of its top leaders have recently been killed in Israeli airstrikes, but it is prepared to wage a long-term war.

Qassem will serve as acting leader until a successor to Nasrallah is appointed. Qassem emphasized that although Hezbollah's top military commandants and commanders have been killed in the past few months, Hezbollah is relying on its new commanders.

"Israel cannot harm our (military) capabilities," he said, adding that "there are subordinate commanders below him, and any commander who is injured will be replaced."

The Israeli military said that two top Hezbollah officials, Gauk and Garri, were killed on the 27th and 28th, and that seven of the most senior Hezbollah officials have been killed recently, including Nasrallah, who was killed on the 27th.
