[Today's Prayer] Hamas Commander-Level Figure Killed in Israeli Airstrike

A commander-level figure from an armed organization affiliated with Hamas in northern Gaza was killed on the 29th (local time) in an Israeli military strike.

The Israeli military carried out a targeted airstrike early that morning on an apartment in the Nasr area west of Gaza City in northern Gaza. The military announced that the deceased had been involved not only in planning Hamas attacks and recruiting personnel, but had also directed attacks against Israeli civilians.

The Hamas-affiliated civil defense authorities also confirmed that the deceased was Iz al-Din al-Baik, describing him as a member of the General Military Council of the al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, and the commander of its Northern Brigade.

The al-Qassam Brigades stated that he was one of the commanders of the surprise operation in October 2023 that triggered the war in Gaza.

A ceasefire in Gaza was agreed upon last October through U.S. mediation, but the agreement has effectively collapsed as distrust and conflict have intensified over the issues of Hamas disarmament and the withdrawal of Israeli forces.

As airstrikes have continued, at least 1,400 people have been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire agreement.

“And far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.” (Ephesians 1:21)

God, we hear the news that Iz al-Din al-Baik, a member of the General Military Council of the al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas in northern Gaza, and commander of its Northern Brigade, has been killed in a targeted Israeli airstrike.

Please watch over, protect, and have mercy on the people of Gaza who are living their lives in anxiety, not knowing when the ongoing airstrikes and war may resume, as the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Palestine has effectively fallen apart.

In the midst of the relationship between Hamas, which is being held captive by the whispers of false Islam, and Israel, where tensions of war continue because of conflict and distrust, may You alone, Jehovah God, rule over Hamas and Israel with all authority, power, and sovereignty.

May the global Church become a Church that proclaims the name of Jesus, the only Savior, to the people of Israel and Palestine who long for freedom and peace after prolonged war. May the global Church stand together in solidarity, worshiping and praying for the restoration of Israel and Palestine.

Also, in the seemingly impenetrable walls of division between Israel and Palestine, may the local Christians of Israel and Palestine love and forgive one another through the cross-shaped love of Jesus Christ, whose name is above every name.

Therefore, may Israel and Palestine proclaim the abundance of grace and the joy of salvation among the nations in Jesus Christ, who grants eternal shalom, and may they prepare the way for the Lord who is coming again!
