[Today’s Prayer] Drowning at Hindu Festival in India… “At Least 46 Dead”

At least 46 people, including 37 children, drowned during a Hindu festival in eastern India.

According to AFP and other news agencies on the 26th (local time), accidents occurred in 15 areas of Bihar, India, from the 24th to this day while Hindu believers were enjoying the festival and bathing in rivers and ponds.

Government officials said people were ignoring the dangers posed by the recent floods, which had raised water levels in rivers and ponds.

The Hindu festival of Jitiya Parv, where mothers pray for the well-being of their children, is celebrated for several days not only in Bihar but also in the neighboring states of Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and southern Nepal.

In Bihar, 22 people drowned in one day during the same festival last year, local media reported.

In July, at least 116 people died in a stampede at a Hindu event in Uttar Pradesh.

So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ (Galatians 3:26-27)

God we hear the sad news that 46 people drowned during the Hindu festival in eastern India.

It is heartbreaking to see people enjoying the festivities and ultimately losing their lives despite the government's assurances that the recent floods have raised the water levels in rivers and ponds and made them dangerous.

May God comfort all those affected and touch each home and soul with His hand.

May the faith of all Indian souls who have bowed down and worshipped before false idols now turn to the true God.

Allow them complete faith, so that they may realize that Jesus Christ, the true God, is our Savior, and that they may become children of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

May all Indian souls be clothed with the garment of Christ. Raise up those who are baptized into Christ and clothed with the garment of Christ. Destroy all idols and break the bonds of death, that the reign of God may come!
