Recently, millions of Shia Muslims have been making pilgrimages to participate in the Arbaine celebrations held in Iraq's Karbala province. The Arbain Memorial Ceremony commemorates the 40th day since the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammed.
Last year, about 22 million pilgrims gathered at Karbala, the holy city in Iraq where Hussein and his brother Abbas are buried, to attend the event.

Hear, Lord, and be merciful to me; Lord, be my help.”You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever (Psalm 23:10-12)
Dear Heavenly Father, master of all lands, we hear the sad news that a bus carrying Pakistani pilgrims overturned in Iran, killing 28 people.
It marks the 40th anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammed of Shiite Muslims, and is said to have attracted 22 million pilgrims last year.
Would you have compassion on those who gather year after year to worship vain gods, and grant them grace to comfort the grief of the families of the deceased.
Lord, who helps and favors all who seek you, make them thirst for truth with a broken heart, and when they find you, let their sorrow be transformed into dance.
We believe that when the global church prays together, every power of death on earth and every theory and idea exalted above the Lord will be broken.
And grant that the people of Pakistan may now praise God alone, not Allah, and be forever grateful to Him.
