[Today's Prayer] At least 24 dead in Vietnam due to 'strongest typhoon in 30 years'… Landslide warning

Daniel 12:3

With the death toll in Vietnam rising to at least 24 after super typhoon 'Yagi' struck, landslide warnings have been issued in various places as heavy rains continue.

According to Reuters, Bloomberg, and local media outlet VN Express on the 9th (local time), Vietnam's disaster management authorities reported that 24 people died and 3 were missing since Yagi made landfall in northern Vietnam on the 7th until the previous night.

A landslide occurred at around 1:00 PM the previous day in Sapa, a famous tourist destination in northern Lao Cai Province, killing 6 people, and a family of 4 died in a mountainous area in northern Hoa Binh Province that morning when a house was buried by a landslide.

Most of the dead were crushed by trees that fell due to landslides or strong winds, including 5 people in Quang Ninh Province and 4 people in Hanoi. In Hanoi alone, approximately 17,000 trees were reported to have fallen or been damaged. In addition, 229 people were injured.

About 8,000 houses were damaged by landslides or flooding, and 25 fishing boats sank in Quang Ninh Province.

An official from the Vietnam Meteorological Administration explained, "Yagi was the strongest typhoon to hit Vietnam in the past 30 years."

The Vietnamese meteorological authority predicted that there would be an additional 208-433mm of heavy rain in the northern provinces of Lang Son, Cao Bang, Yen Bai, and Thai Nguyen over the next 24 hours, raising the risk of flooding.

In particular, they warned that 17 of the 25 northern provinces, including Quang Ninh, are at high risk of landslides due to the soil being soaked by heavy rain.

Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life.(Psalm 54:4)

God, we hear that the death toll from the typhoon in Vietnam has increased to at least 24.

Would you please comfort and protect those who are suffering from the unbearable disaster. We confess that we desperately need God's protection amidst the most powerful and dangerous typhoon that has hit Vietnam in the past 30 years.

Lord, who is with Vietnam, we earnestly pray that you will help them and uphold their lives.

Please restore all the casualties and their families, and let God's peace come to Vietnam!

At this time, we hope that the voices of those who call out to the Lord's name will be spread even louder across the land. We hope that they will become the souls of Vietnam who come before the Lord!

Let all the Christians in Vietnam rise up and serve together and pray so that they can overcome this difficulty and become a Vietnamese church that rises up.

Let all darkness and suffering be cut off and let Vietnam be renewed as a place where true salvation is found in the Lord.
