[Today's Prayer] Are Arab countries turning their backs on Hamas? "Condemnation planned at the UN next week"

It has been reported that Arab countries will condemn the Palestinian militant group Hamas for the first time at the UN meeting next week.

According to dpa and other news agencies on the 27th (local time), French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Borrot said in an interview with French media outlet La Tribune Dimanche published that day, "For the first time, Arab countries will condemn Hamas and demand its disarmament. This will confirm Hamas's final isolation."

Many Arab countries, including Egypt and Qatar, have initially served as mediators or criticized Israel during the conflict between Hamas and Israel. Minister Barrot added that the Arab condemnation of Hamas is part of a long-standing initiative by France and Saudi Arabia. The UN meeting he was referring to is a ministerial meeting scheduled for the 28th and 29th to discuss a "two-state solution" between Israel and Palestine.

Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron recently declared that he would officially recognize Palestine as a state at the UN General Assembly in September. Minister Barrot stated that half of European countries have already recognized Palestine as a state, and the rest are reviewing the matter.

To date, 147 of the 193 UN member states have officially recognized Palestine as a sovereign state. Last year, Spain, Ireland, Slovenia, and Norway joined the ranks of European countries.
