[Today’s Prayer] Afghanistan faces food crisis ahead of cold weather

Eight million people, one-third of Afghanistan's child population, has entered the new year amid a hunger crisis. With communities reeling from earthquakes, drought and an economic crisis, there are growing fears that Afghanistan could experience urgent levels of hunger during the coming winter.

According to new figures from the United Nations' Integrated Food Security Category (IPC) released on the 14th, 15.8 million people, including 7.8 million children in Afghanistan, are expected to experience severe food instability during the coming winter. As winter approaches, the crisis could worsen as employment opportunities decline and food and fuel prices rise. Last January, at least 160 people lost their lives when temperatures dropped to minus 34 degrees Celsius due to a severe cold wave.

In particular, in the Herat region of northwestern Afghanistan, families who lost their homes and food due to a series of earthquakes are still living in an extremely vulnerable state. As many as 48,000 people are still living in temporary tents following a strong earthquake last October that killed more than 2,000 people. Millions of Afghans are likely to starve if emergency resources are not provided to help them survive the harsh winter. If children do not receive proper nutrition, they may become malnourished, their immunity may be weakened, and in severe cases, they are more likely to develop respiratory disease or pneumonia.

She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21)

We are hearing that 15.8 million people, including 7.8 million Afghan children, will experience severe food instability this winter. Due severe cold, when the temperature drops, many can loose their lives.

Do not let a single soul die in Afghanistan without knowing Yeshua.

Allow the churches of this land to make history by preaching the gospel throughout Afghanistan, to all families, to all souls, through the power of the Holy Spirit. They will meet the Lord through dreams and visions, and let the gospel spread through all methods.

Save the people of Afghanistan from their sins through Yeshua, the Son of God. Let those who overcome hardships and persecutions go beyond the suffering of the earth and become those who earn great reward in heaven.

Send your helping hands from all corners of the world, and let the Korean Church, which cannot enter in this land, go in and help these people. So let the people of Afghanistan praise the LORD with eternal joy!
