Following India, sudden torrential rains have also caused floods in northwestern Pakistan, leaving 157 dead.
According to AP News and others on the 16th (local time), sudden heavy rainfall triggered flooding the previous day in Buner District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, northwestern Pakistan.
The disaster killed 157 people, while dozens remain missing, according to rescue authorities.
Bodies of victims have been found in collapsed villages, and rescue teams have deployed boats and helicopters to save residents stranded by the flood.
As search operations continue, the death toll is expected to rise further.

A helicopter transporting relief supplies to flood-affected areas also crashed due to worsening weather conditions in Bajaur District, a mountainous area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
All five people on board, including two pilots, were killed in the crash.
According to Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority, the nationwide death toll from heavy rains since June 26 has reached 556.
Previously, on the 14th, similar torrential rains caused flooding in a mountain village in Kishtwar, Indian-administered Kashmir, killing 60 and leaving 80 missing.
AP noted that the so-called “cloudburst rains,” which began in Indian-administered Kashmir, had spread into northwestern Pakistan.
Recently, due to climate change, such cloudburst rains—where an extremely large amount of rainfall pours down in a very short period of time over a small area—have become increasingly common in India’s Himalayan regions and northern Pakistan.

“But you, Lord, do not be far from me. You are my strength; come quickly to help me.” (Psalm 22:19)
Heavenly Father, we hear the heartbreaking news that in addition to India, sudden torrential rains have caused flooding in northwestern Pakistan, leaving 157 dead, and even a helicopter transporting relief supplies crashed due to bad weather, killing all 5 on board.
Lord, be the refuge for the souls of Pakistan who are in danger of death, trapped and unable to find even drinking water due to difficult rescue conditions. May they experience Your grace as their strength and helper amid fear and danger.
Comfort the hearts of those in Pakistan who have lost homes and families, remove the cloudbursts, and swiftly bring rescue to the isolated residents so that their livelihoods may also be restored.
Holy Lord, among the souls of Pakistan whose hearts have been humbled, perform a new work, and through the blood of Jesus Christ wash away every power of sin and death covering Pakistan, so that only the name of Jesus Christ may reign forever in the land.
God, even now, awaken the churches of Pakistan and India so that they may pray more earnestly and proclaim the gospel for the countless souls perishing helplessly while relying on Hinduism and Islam.
As the churches of Pakistan and India devote themselves more to praying for one another, may the Lord open every closed door in Pakistan and India, so that both nations may proclaim the gospel to each other and be united by the gospel.
May Pakistan and India, united by the gospel, march forward along the Asian Highway carrying the good news to all nations! May the vision of 100,000 missionaries from Pakistan and 1 million missionaries from India be fulfilled together!
