[Today's Prayer] "15 Killed in Rebel Attack on Market in Western Sudan"

ree

The Associated Press and AFP reported on the 24th (local time) that 15 people were killed in an attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) rebel group on a market in a major city in western Sudan.

According to the Emergency Response Center, a local activist group, the RSF attacked a busy market in Al-Fashir, the capital of North Darfur, with a drone the previous afternoon.

A local hospital official said, "The attack killed 15 civilians and injured 12, three of whom are in critical condition."

(Omitted)

Since independence in 1956, Sudan has experienced frequent civil wars and political instability. The civil war between government forces and the RSF has raged for over 29 months.

The RSF controlled most of Darfur, excluding Al-Fashir in the west, and briefly occupied Khartoum. However, it was pushed back in the central and eastern regions, ultimately surrendering Khartoum to government forces in late March. Since then, the Sudanese government forces have controlled the eastern, northern, and central regions, while the RSF controls most of western Darfur and parts of the southern region, respectively, leading to a standoff.

Yet he commanded the skies above and opened the windows of heaven. He rained down manna for them to eat and gave them the bread of heaven. People ate the bread of the mighty, and he satisfied them with food. (Psalm 78:23-25)

God, we hear news of 15 lives lost and 12 injured in a drone attack by the RSF in Sudan.

This is not the only incident, but we hear news of the RSF's repeated actions taking the lives of Sudanese souls.

Lord, the souls of Sudan are in fear due to the civil war between the Sudanese government forces and the RSF, which has been going on for 29 months.

We pray that all the dark spirits that cause war and prevent unity among the Sudanese people will be extinguished.

We pray that the God of mercy and compassion will be with the Sudanese people at this time.

May the Sudanese people come before the Lord, who bestows eternal grace upon us. May there be no more death, and may the work of life be upon the Sudanese people.

To this end, may the local churches in Sudan awaken and pray, and as these churches pray, may a holy generation arise within the Sudanese people, dedicated to God's grace.

Through the Sudanese people, may a multitude of people rise up who praise God, not only in Sudan but also in all nations, and may they prepare the way for the Lord's return!
