Tens of thousands of Israelis took to the streets in Tel Aviv on the 9th to protest Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's announcement of a military takeover of Gaza City.

The so-called Five Principles for Ending the War were approved by the Security Cabinet early on the 7th (Friday) and are expected to be passed at the Cabinet meeting on the 10th.

The first objective of the five principles is to completely militarily take control and occupy Gaza City in the north, where half of the Gaza population lives, within two months, although not the entire Gaza Strip.

Israel currently controls 75% of the Gaza Strip, which is half the size of Seoul, and most of the 1.1 million residents withdrew to the south in mid-October 2023 and returned home in mid-January of this year, 15 months later. The control rate will exceed 85%, and the Palestinians in Gaza City will be driven out again.

Protest organizers said more than 100,000 Israelis gathered in the largest city, Tel Aviv, to protest Netanyahu's escalation of the war.

Demonstrators demanded an immediate halt to the military offensive against Gaza and the release of hostages.

According to Israeli media, recent opinion polls show an overwhelming majority of Israelis want an immediate end to the war, with the full release and return of the remaining hosts and their bodies. The 251 Israeli hostages taken to Gaza by Hamas and others in a surprise attack on the south on October 7, 2023, 50, including 20 survivors, are still being held in Gaza 22 months later.
