[Field Story] “Southeast and Southwest Asia covered in smog”

Southeast and Southwest Asian countries are suffering from smog due to severe air pollution.

Air pollution in the area is particularly bad in winter, caused by a combination of smoke generated from burning crop residue in agricultural fields and air currents that prevent the smoke from escaping.

Pakistan's severe, toxic smog blankets the eastern region, hospitalizing 70,000 people a day with respiratory illnesses, the Associated Press reported on the 14th.

The country's most populous province of Punjab has been experiencing record-breaking air pollution since October, with Lahore and Multan recording an air quality index of 400 on the 13th, well above the unhealthy level of 300.

Punjab government spokesperson Uzma Bukhari said over 2.1 million patients have been treated in government hospitals so far due to smog, while schools have been closed until the 17th and parks and museums until the 18th.

Research estimates that more than 1 million Indians die each year from diseases linked to air pollution, the Associated Press reported.

According to SAFAR, an Indian environmental monitoring agency, air quality in New Delhi was more than 50 times higher than the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended level.

Bangkok, Thailand recently reported that an atmospheric inversion layer has caused airborne pollutant particles to accumulate.

We turn to God, the Creator and Lord of all things.

We pray this hour, in the name of Jesus, that You control the winds of the heavens and grant clean skies and winds! The heavens were made by Your command. Cleanse it, for if You will, You can!

Have pity and compassion on the lives of those who suffer directly in the flesh from polluted air and wind and are afflicted with disease!

Not only the bodies but may the souls of Pakistan be revived in Jesus' name.

By the winds of the Holy Spirit, breathe life into all dying souls, that they may be born again, dancing in praise of God to all the peoples whom you love.

May it be a victorious Pakistan that will fulfill its mission of carrying the life of God to the nations and to the ends of the earth to all the nations You love!
