[Field Story] Dagestan, the one who will become God's coworker

Hello, I am Alina, an ethnic Avar living in Dagestan.

Through a close friend, I got to know some friends who believed in Jesus and followed them to worship services.

Initially, I wasn't really interested in the group, but as I started going, I found myself singing with people, reading the Bible, and watching videos about Jesus.

Earlier this year, I attended a gathering of many friends who believe in Jesus with some expectation, and as I listened to them share about the creation of the world, sin, and Jesus' salvation on the cross, I believed what I had seen, heard, and confessed in praise.

On the way home after the meeting, my friend who invited me informed me that the last hour was a time to receive Jesus, but I had no idea what it was. If I had known what it was, I would have loved to confess my faith in Jesus in front of everyone. I was disappointed that I didn't get to do that, but I prayed a prayer to confess Jesus as my Savior even though it was late.

There were no major changes in my life yet since I accepted, but I really enjoy the meetings where there is praise and worship, and I try to go to meetings, even though my time is limited due to my strict parents.

I am full of faith and joyful that I have been given eternal life through Jesus, and I have an overwhelming desire to know more about God.

I have yet to tell anyone that I believe in Jesus, and when that time comes, please pray for me that I will be bold enough to confess Jesus as my Savior with the confidence of faith.

So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building. (1 Corinthians 3:7,9)

Heavenly Father, Savior of the whole world, we praise You for bringing Alina, a member of the Avar ethnic group in Dagestan, to know friends who believe in Jesus and for leading her to a worship gathering.

We also thank you that you have led sister Alina to confess the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior.

We trust that you will continue to fill her with faith and joy in worship gatherings and allow her to grow up to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

She cannot yet tell others about her faith in Jesus, but as your partner, allow her to boldly share the gospel in the center of Dagestan.

And let the disciples and the churches arise in the midst of the Caspian lands, beyond Dagestan, to prepare the way for Your coming!
