[2026 Ramadan] Day 6 Rise with the Heavenly Calling to Prepare the Way of the Lord Across the Silk Road—Kyrgyzstan!

Kyrgyzstan is located in the Tien Shan mountain range of Central Asia. It borders China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, serving as a gateway nation along the Silk Road. The land is marked by rugged mountains, a nomadic heritage, and traditional dwellings called yurts, where shepherds make their living.

Since gaining independence from the former Soviet Union in 1991, Kyrgyzstan has become home to about 7.3 million people across more than 80 ethnic groups. Approximately 90% of the population is Muslim, practicing a form of folk Islam deeply mixed with ancestor worship and shamanistic traditions. Among them, evangelical Christians make up only about 0.3%.

Through the Battle of Talas in 751, this land of Central Asia and Kyrgyzstan came under the influence of Islam for over 1,300 years. Yet in 2025, as Central Asian and Kyrgyz young people joined with Korean short-term mission teams, worship and proclamation were lifted up on this very land of Talas—and the Lord is now stirring a new spiritual awakening across this region.

Even during Ramadan, the northern regions tend to be more secular, allowing greater freedom regarding fasting. However, in the more traditional and religious southern regions, it is difficult to find restaurants open due to strong communal pressure. During fasting, even water is not consumed. Some university students refrain from taking medicine—even when ill—so as not to break their fast. Even young children, as young as nine, choose to fast, desiring to conform to their community. This reflects the deep spiritual darkness that holds many people in bondage.

As of February 1, 2025, Kyrgyzstan has implemented a newly revised religious law. Church registration requirements have been strengthened, and religious activities are now restricted to government-approved locations, limited to pre-registered individuals. In this time of increasing restrictions on evangelism and missions, it is time for the Kyrgyz Church to restore its first love for the Lord, overcome fear, and arise as a holy church preparing the way for His return.

A testimony from a local young adult preparing for long-term mission this April:

“Kyrgyz people are nomads—a shepherd people. We love horses, which symbolize freedom.

As nomads, we have always lived looking toward the sky, not bound to one place.

The identity God has given us is that of ‘shepherds who care for the flock’ and ‘nomads who are not tied down.’

Now it is time for Kyrgyzstan to send out missionaries.

Please pray that the Kyrgyz Church and Kyrgyz young generation will restore their identity before God and run toward the nations!”

Following a YGM sister sent last summer and the sister who will go as long-term this April, 300 warriors are rising in Kyrgyzstan to fulfill the vision of 1,000 missionaries for Central Asia. We praise the Lord that anoints these young people who are like the morning dew and obey the Lord’s calling! We praise Jesus who will break the chains of darkness over the nations and return to this land as king! Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus! Amen!

[Today’s Prayer]

1. Renew the Kyrgyz Church with the Gospel of the cross and the power of the Holy Spirit! As we boldly proclaim the name of Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and move forward, may the Lord work with us, confirming His Word with signs that follow. May souls bound in the darkness of Islam come to Jesus, who gives true freedom, peace, and joy. May the Kyrgyz Church rise with spiritual and missionary revival!

2. May 300 warriors rise up in Kyrgyzstan by 2030 with the spirit of John the Baptist to prepare the way for the Lord's return! May the young people sent out as YGM and long-term missionary boldly embrace the heavenly thousand mission and go forth to the nations!

3. May the Lord send forth harvest workers from all generations of the nations to fulfill the vision of a thousand missionaries in Central Asia and raise up the 300 warriors in Kyrgyzstan!
