Morocco is called “Maghrib” in Arabic, meaning “the land where the sun sets in the west.” It possesses diverse natural environments, including the Sahara Desert, the Mediterranean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, and the high Atlas Mountains. The Amazigh people, Morocco's indigenous inhabitants, embraced Christianity early on but apostatized with the arrival of Islam around the 7th century, becoming 99% Muslim. To this day, it remains a land without an official church, and most Moroccans live without having properly heard the Gospel. Islam in Morocco today is a unique blend of Sufism, a mystical form of Islam, and animistic beliefs. Therefore, Ramadan in Morocco is observed both within families and socially with a sense of obligation. While outwardly appearing to be a time to strengthen Islamic faith, it is also a period strongly influenced by a deep spiritual fear—the belief that any curses or sorcery directed at an individual are neutralized during the Ramadan fast.
Sister H recently accepted Jesus through a short-term team from Israel. Afterward, she received deliverance and baptism through an Egyptian pastor. Sister H then shared the gospel with her mother, who also accepted Jesus. Subsequently, connected through the Egyptian pastor's introduction, Sister H began attending a local church, rejoicing greatly as she worshipped together. However, as great as the grace was, various spiritual difficulties also began for her. Although her mother accepted Jesus, she did not heed Sister H's exhortations to attend the Word and prayer meetings. Due to her younger brother's issues, Sister H herself also missed Sunday worship services consecutively, and many spiritual battles continue. Please pray together that Sister H may become a disciple who follows the Lord's path to the end with discernment.
In this seemingly hopeless land, the Lord has recently been bringing revival among the youth of Morocco. The young people of Maranatha Christian Church (MCC), established in Morocco, are rising up as disciples of the Lord, not merely preserving their faith but dedicating their lives to spreading the gospel. Immediately after completing the Maghreb Mission Camp (MVC) in early February 2026, six local young people went to Country P to share the gospel. Though it was only a short two-week period, it overlapped with Ramadan, making it a difficult decision. Overcoming the criticism and condemnation from their families and relatives, they ultimately went to serve refugees from Country A in Country P. During Ramadan, when Islam spiritually seeks dominance, Christian youth in Morocco are rising up instead! They are fulfilling the mission of spreading the gospel among the nations and preparing the way for the Lord's return! We will surely witness the holy work of the Lord using the churches in Morocco to fulfill the full number of the Gentiles!
[Today’s Prayer]
1. Even in the spiritual darkness of Ramadan, may Moroccan Christians offer their faith more earnestly, overcoming persecution, oppression, and fear from family and relatives, to become a bold church proclaiming the kingdom of God.
2. May the hypocritical and immoral nature of Islam in this land be exposed, and through our prayers, may it swiftly collapse.
