Hello! My name is Fatemah. I am an Afghan living in Turkey.
Though I’m from Afghanistan, I lived in Iran before coming to Turkey. Because I’m Afghan, I was often discriminated against in Iran, and people looked down upon me. I came to Turkey thinking that my difficult life in Iran will improve, but the difficulties continued, and Turkish people disliked me for my ethnicity too. I started to question if Islam is even the truth, if this is how all Muslims act toward each other.
Then, one day, I met a Christian. I heard about Jesus through her. I got curious and wanted to learn more about Him, so this friend was about to hand me a Bible. But suddenly, one young man who was observing us suddenly approached and snatched the Bible away.
My heart was so desperate, so I tried to meet with this Christian friend again. And soon we ran into each other again by chance. Once again, I heard about Jesus, and on that day, I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior!
I started to attend church, and I began to pray for my knees and my back, which had been in pain for some time. One day, Jesus came to me in a dream and said, “You will not be in pain anymore.” When I woke up, my knees and my back were healed and have been well ever since!
A couple of days ago, I felt the Holy Spirit come into my heart as I was worshiping. I was reminded of all the sins I committed in the past, and I sincerely repented before Jesus who bore the cross for me.
My life has completely changed. When I read the Bible, I feel that my heart and my thoughts are changing. As I pray, more peace comes upon my life.
Before encountering Jesus Christ, I used to complain, “God, why did you let me be born as an Afghan?” However, now, I choose to be an Afghan Christian over being a miserable, faithless person in a rich country!
Even now, when I think about the cross of Jesus Christ, I start to cry. Please pray for my three children, and Afghanistan, to also know the love of Jesus Christ, who bore the cross for us! May they encounter Him too!
30 Then He said, “To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we picture it? 31 It is like a mustard seed which, when it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on earth; 32 but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out large branches, so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade.”
Mark 4:30-32 NKJV
In the world, Sister Fatemah went through hardship just because she is an Afghan. But Lord, You planted the kingdom of God in Sister Fatemah.
Now, let Sister Fatemah grow large branches and become greater than all the other herbs. Allow her to become one who will lead her children and the people of Afghanistan to You, Lord Jesus!
Just as Sister Fatemah’s life that was once filled with misery was restored by the love of Jesus, please plant the Kingdom of God in the lives of all the Afghan refugees who have left their home and are in the midst of weariness. Let these refugees sing a new song to You!
And may they proclaim that they are no longer refugees, but Your disciples! May they grow large branches that others may come to and nest under. May they lead all nations to You, Lord!
For this revival, may the global church work together to share the love of Jesus with the Afghan people and fulfill God’s will for them. The Afghan people shall rise up with Jesus Christ in their hearts and lead nations back to You, God! Amen!
