A Turkish drone struck a refugee camp in the Kurdish autonomous region of northern Iraq, killing three civilians, AFP and Reuters reported on June 5th.
Representative Rashad Galali of the Makmur district claimed that a Turkish drone attacked a refugee camp in northern Iraq that day.
“A kindergarten near the camp was attacked, killing three people and injuring two,” Galali said.
Thousands of Kurdish refugees from Turkey are staying in camps in northern Iraq that are being supported by the United Nations (UN), Reuters said.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan recently claimed that the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) has bases in the Makmur region, and threatened that “if the UN does not clear the area, Turkey will deal with it.”
The PKK is a Kurdish separatist militant group based in southeastern Turkey and northern Iraq that fights for the political independence of the Kurdish people. The Turkish government considers the PKK a terrorist group and the greatest threat to Turkey’s national security.
Founded in 1978, the PKK has adopted a violent methodology and has continued its secessionist movement for over 40 years, sporadically attacking in civilian areas and at random.
The Turkish government estimates that about 40,000 people have been killed in PKK attacks so far.
The Turkish military has also been intensifying airstrikes in northern Iraq over the past year in efforts to weaken the PKK.

6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down;
Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.
7 For He is our God,
And we are the people of His pasture,
And the sheep of His hand.
Today, if you will hear His voice:
8 “Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion,
As in the day of trial in the wilderness,
9 When your fathers tested Me;
They tried Me, though they saw My work.
(Psalm 95:6-9 NKJV)
A Kurdish kindergarten was attacked by a Turkish drone in northern Iraq, killing three people and injuring two others. Although the camp is supported by the UN, it was attacked by Turkey.
Lord God! Have mercy on the Kurdish people, who dream of political independence, and have given and taken lives just for a worldly kingdom. May the gospel of the kingdom of heaven spread quickly throughout the Kurdish people, that they may no longer sacrifice themselves to the false hope of a country in this world that will not last!
May all Kurds kneel before the LORD and worship him! Help them know that only You, Jehovah God, are their sovereign God, and that they are the people of Your pasture, the sheep of Your hand.
Let the Kurdish people hear the voice of the Messiah Yeshua, who came to this earth for them! May they not harden their hearts but give their lives only for You and the gospel.
Finally, Father God, may the Turkish and Kurdish churches become one through Your dream and vision for the gospel to redeem all nations to You! Amen!
