Britain’s Christian Today reported that the content sanctions by “Big Tech” (technology giant companies) could lead to the suspension of Christian content and personal accounts.
Pastor Andrew Owen, founder of the Destiny Church in Glasgow, Scotland, made the remarks in a recent pastoral letter to church members.
He said, “For the first time, we are seeing large tech companies (Google, Apple, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, etc.) decide that thoughts, ideas, and opinions of some people are unsharable with the wider world, as a result blocking and permanently suspending many accounts with Christian content.”
Owen warned that the values of the Bible and the values of today’s society are in conflict, and that Christians should choose between “political correctness” and “Biblical correctness.”
“At present, anti-God thought has taken a very firm hold on our planet, and many people, including Christians, are being kicked out of the public arena,” he said. “The ‘cancel culture’ of many universities has now reached you and me.”
“Cancel culture” came from a campaign to deliver warning messages such as “You’ve been deleted” to those mostly related to hate or discriminatory behavior on social media, while putting hashtags in the same time.
Owen also warned that Christian media is likely to be blocked by Big Tech companies within the next two years.
“We made the most of streaming church online during the pandemic quarantines, but now there is a possibility that Big Tech will ban churches’ online content in a year or two,” he said.
Owen urged the church to be aware that the end is near and encouraged Christians to be positive and use every opportunity to preach the gospel while we still can.
Pastor Franklin Graham quoted Elon Musk, saying, “Many people will be deeply dissatisfied with the West Coast high tech which is ‘de facto arbiter’ (in fact deciding) the freedom of speech,” adding, “This will bring more than unhappiness to all Americans, and we have to think deeply about it.
“Some say that the West Coast high tech companies should distinguish between ‘banning hate speech’ and ‘banning the speech it hates,’ and this is true.”
Graham continued, warning, “We must remember that if freedom of speech is allowed to be suppressed in this country, this could include the freedom to preach the gospel and the truth of God’s Word.”

Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am the Lord your God. And you shall keep My statutes, and perform them: I am the Lord who sanctifies you.
(Leviticus 20:7-8, NKJV)
Holy God! It is the end times, and they are full of evil and darkness. What is right is considered wrong, and what is wrong is considered right.
In the midst of this chaotic age, let the holy church of the Lord rise to discern what is right before the Lord who sanctifies us!
Lord, pour out the power to defeat the enemy who wants to suppress the church and movement of the gospel!
Holiness is power. May the holy saints and disciples of the Lord obey and observe Your word and keep themselves consecrated and holy! May we know it is the end times, and faithfully fulfill our mission!
Let us stand in solidarity with You on the day when the sheep and goats are distinguished! Let the global church overcome all darkness, and with the spirit of the remnants, rise in solidarity and be victorious! Amen!
